My son's case

Post by Helen Tucker »

Thanks for sharing this! It gives me hope. Would you happen to know how long it took for him to grow out of it? How long was he using homeopathy before he was healthy?
It would be nice to hear the details of his story. Cure stories give me hope. Sometimes I get so discouraged and depressed when his weight stalls.
Thanks again.
Helen

He was on Arg Nit, then switched to Pulsatilla because he was exhibiting a LOT of aggressive, jealous behavior towards his new baby brother. On the Puls, his jealousy has all but disappeared. Then it got interrupted by a couple of weeks of acutes, so we're ready to start fresh.
Right now, his picture includes:
---Capriciousness and irritability. -- He'll say he wants chips, yell or scream "No!" as he throws them on the floor when he gets them, cry and moan, then ask for chips again. Then he'll eat them.
---Difficult to please. Rigid. -- Wants things done a certain way or by a certain person. He'll ask for the TV to be turned on. then scream if his sister turns it on. If he wants me to turn the TV on, then he screams if anyone else does it. But not always. Sometimes he doesn't care who does it.
---Gesture: rubbing bedclothes -- when distressed, needs to rub the hem of my shirt or hem of the bedsheet for comfort
---Worse at bedtime -- he cries for no apparent reason when he is about to go to bed, and there is no pleasing him
---Seeks a lot of attention and comfort from mom. Clingy esp at bedtime.
---Gets hot and sweats easily
---Eczema on fingers, face, and buttcheeks -- fingers are sometimes intensely itchy and oozing clear liquid (no pattern on time of day)
---Delayed in speech, but slowly improving
---Refuses to use the toilet, except first thing in the morning. He is still in diapers. If he starts peeing, and we put him on the toilet, he'll stop and refuse to pee anymore.
---Craves salt? (He eats a lot of potato chips.)
---Eats small amounts frequently throughout the day
---The sunken eye look is there when he is not feeling well, but not usually not noticeable.
Our homeopath suggested trying Chamomile. The reason is we gave him a dose for an acute last week, and Sunny's speech improved. Right after his dose, he said things he had never said before. Cham also fits the irritable, difficult to please profile. So I gave him a dose of Chamomile today. His mood's improved. He counted to 3 for the first time, and said a new word within one hour of the remedy. So far so good. Now if he will only gain weight....

His oozing, crusting, bleeding, skin peeling, hair falling stopped after 1 year old. Eczema left his face after 2 year old. After 6 year old, there was no more eczema anywhere in his body. Now at 10, all his food allergies are gone except minor reaction to nut.
His parents didn't know about homeopathy when he was little. But as scientists they know enough to avoid steroids, antihistamines and any other suppressive treatments to the best they could. They also didn't use elimination diet, since the child tested allergic to every substance tested. He even reacted to the saline solution, which was used as control. The only thing they avoid was peanut, which caused life-threatening reaction in the child.
So the child basically suffered through. The parents did make sure the child gets his nutrition. When the child vomited a meal, they would just feed him another one. So the child never stopped growing.
They started looking for alternative treatment when the child started school. Because the school nurse requested the parents bring in allergic medication to school. The school would give medication whenever the child had a reaction (such as lip swelling, itch throat, belly cramp..). The parents didn't like this idea at all. Normally they would just wait out those reactions or gave some water to help.
They were luck when they discovered the homeopathy, because the child had very clear picture of Graphites constitution. One dose of 30c every three days was enough to avoid getting reactions in school. Now he only uses remedy occasionally as needed.
I mention this boy just in case your son has the same constitution. Hope you find his remedy soon.

One more question if I may. Do you know if despite all these allergies, if the child had trouble gaining weight? If so, is the child a normal size now?
I worry that my son might be irreversibly stunted because of his failure to thrive. Most of the kids on allopathic meds are growing faster than my son, but I'm holding out hope that when he is cured, he will catch up. I don't know anyone who is NOT using allopathic treatment for this, so I have no case history to pin my hopes on.
Thank you for telling me about this child. I really appreciate it.

What sweet pictures!!!
Sounds like you have to follow the chamomilla--how encouraging!
Any particular foods that he likes or won't eat? (Maybe you already
gave that.) Does he like or dislike soup of any sort?
Does he like and respond to music? (Any dancing?)
I am fishing shamelessly for keynotes. :-)

Hi Helen

Maybe you can look at the remedies from the Carbonserie. Graphites
could be a possibility, but I would also look at Borax or maybe
Borium. Or another one is Beryllium, or one of its salts. The only
problem is that some are hardly in the repertory. So maybe the best
choise would be to give something that comes out high at first (like
Cham) and in the meantime search for a remedy that might be needed
after that, if still necessary.
Good luck and I hope he will develop well.

Yes, the child is normal size. Milk and eggs are very important nutrition sources for a child to grow. If you can figure out a way to slowly reintroduce these foods, I don't see any reason that your son wouldn't catch up.
About allopathic treatment, this family only used on occasions when the reactions were life threatening. So I believe food is the key. Don't give up a nutritious food unless it is life threatening.
Good luck to your son's speedy recovery.

I'd like to thank everyone who offered ideas and suggestions. He seems to be doing better on the Chamomilla. His weight has gone up about 2 ounces. That isn't much, but it's above the weight he's been for the last 2 months, so any gain is good.
