Talking about homeopathy

I usually use this kind of argument

The body /mind as a system is unbalanced by something and this
causes disease. This might be anything including infection. Body
starts fighting against it and the interaction is what is coming out
as symptoms. To help the system heal itself we need to help it
appropriately. Since each one of us is different the help needs to
be individualized.

Hahnemann wanted to help this healing mechanism of the body. In his
days ( and even now) we cannot truly say what is causing the
problem, there is no single factor. So we do not know what is
causing it – but we know what is body's reaction to it- how body is
fighting against it… because we can get the signs and symptoms from
the patient…So Hahnemann decided to stick to this presentation –
body' reaction – to guide him to a solution.

Hahnemann thought that if he could get a normally healthy person to
take a drug and note down the symptoms and signs caused, it would
show how the body is reacting to a particular disturbance – the same
way it is disturbed by any disease causing agent. The external drug
given by Hahnemann is disturbing the balance of the body and so
these symptoms are caused. If this picture is similar to the actual
disease symptoms of a patient – irrespective of what the cause is –
it means the body is reacting to both situations in similar ways.
So if many such drugs could be tested in this manner and the
symptoms that they cause can be noted this will help to fight a lot
of reaction patterns of different people by giving us a set of
drugs that disturb the body similar to naturally occurring diseases.

Since by giving our drug, our aim is strengthen the *particular* way
body is fighting the disease, we give the drug that caused the most
similar reaction in a healthy person. But remember we need to
strengthen only the reaction of the body but not the disease. So if
we give the drug in its full undiluted dose we might strengthen the
disease and cause more suffering. So Hahnemann started diluting the
drug so that the disease is not increased but the just the reaction
of the body is strengthened. Through experiments he also found that
such dilution released more and more the reactive power of the body
and helped the body heal in its own individual way. That is how
homeopathic dilution started.

Why is this individual way important? Why is the allopathic way of
just using an antimalarial for malaria / or antibiotic for
infections not the best way?

In malaria or flu even if members of the same family fall ill, each
one has a different set of symptoms. Some have headache in morning ,
some in evening, some fever in the afternoon, some at night, Some
people become irritable, some just lie in a corner, Some do not fall
ill at all. So it means that the same infection has different
actions on different people. It is because of our inherent
constitution. May be less immunity in some etc. So if we just kill
off the malarial parasites or viruses we are just concentrating on
the external or unbalancing agent. That is - we are getting rid of
the headache, fever etc. of malaria / flu but not how it varied in
different people. Why were there the variations?. Because the
variations are from the way the body is reacting and not just from
the malaria. So by taking the individual reaction of the patient
into account – like headache in morning , fever in afternoon etc. we
are strengthening the body to throw off malaria; this strengthening
of the body will help not only in this attack but hopefully the
strength also stays with the patient to prevent future attacks. This
is like beefing up the security of the house instead of just chasing
and beating the thieves each time they attack. This is the same
principle that vaccination also uses but crudely. It is done crudely
it is the same vaccine given to all and not individualized.

This is in general how I explain homeopathy to some of the new
patients and to convince the public. Most of the time this kind of
resonates with their experience and expectations.
