Responding [was: Is Homeopathy Bleeding To Death??
Hi Soroush,
Good point!!!
Which I think makes these discussions useful--not that most of us will
ever talk to a journalist, more's the pity!
Anyone want to start this here? Who knows, some of us might be able to
make use of that...
They attack us based on:
- Charge: We are unscientific
- Response: The process of doing and evaluating provings is *very*
scientific, as is the process of matching remedy picture to patient's
picture. As with any science, there are areas which are still being
explored, and with a given task the way forward is not always obvious.
(E.g. they may note that patients sometimes get "wrong remedies";
response would be that yes, and in mainstream medicine patients
sometimes get "wrong drugs" etc.; even NASA sometimes gets a wrong
result. The *application* of the science is evolving, not always
perfect, but the principles and procedures are there, and the process
itself is based on the scientific process of (rats, I did this last
year with my son--something like, Observation leads to Hypothesis leads
to Testing leads to New Hypothesis etc.--can anyone give a more refined
version of that, a more "quotable quote"?)
- Charge: Hm, there must be more...

Re: Responding [was: Is Homeopathy Bleeding To Death??
Sorry, I was/am rushing, and left out the obvious!
Duh, they are *mostly* these days attacking us on basis of this or that
study, which they deem to "show homeopathy doesn't work". So for us to
be (I say reluctantly) a little versed in just what those studies have
been--which were "positive", which were "negative", possible reasons
for negative outcomes if known--could be helpful.
- There have been some cases where the results of the study actually
were positive, yet it was reported as negative
- In other cases the study was poorly designed--inappropriate remedy
or potency, inadequate individualization, or some other.
- And in some studies, which seem to be conveniently "overlooked" by
the critics, the results simply were very good indeed, very compelling.
We should (I mean those of us with any interesting in "playing that
game") be able to cite and understand those...
I'm not very familiar with the studies; but can anyone here give some
summary?
There must be someplace in the "world of homeopathy" where this sort of
thing *is* tracked and available?

Check out this which was sent to Hpathy.com in response to the email posting. All the replies from this posting are in our (the Hpathy Team) Private Forums. This is the most comprehensive list I have seen and she says she is adding to it all the time.

It is a long name- Try the full address - the address got chopped
into 2 lines- so you need to copy the second line and add it to the
first line and that gives you the full address

Dear Ellen,
I think Shannon was referring to the link I sent.
You won't be able to see even the titles of the Hpathy.com private forums as
each one has a different password for access. We use them to plan the Ezine,
store material coming in, edit it, and there is an Admin forum for us which
has a Feedback thread which is where |I took the link from.. There is
nothing there for the general public's interest.

I believe Dana Ullman does quite a bit of work in keeping up with the latest research etc.

Re: Responding [was: Is Homeopathy Bleeding To Death??
I remember having suggested Fifty Reasons for Becoming an Homeopath of Dr. Burnett, to those who had any doubts. These attacks are nothing new. I sure will call it an act of frustration when it is found and understood that Homeopaths often do something where they fail miserably. Let them read this Book and i SURE WILL BE HAPPY TO SEE THEM RESTART THIS DISCUSSION, ONCE AGAIN BY, BUT BY CLARIFYING THE QUESTIONS RAISED BY Dr. Burnett ABOUT THEIR OWN SCIENTIFIC ACHIEVEMENTS . Let them understand and realize that the initial movement, the efforts and provings were done by those who had been part of so called "SCIENTIFIC' School. Yes they have to understand "Homeopathy is a Science, supported with Provings .. let them prove themselves in the similar process .. let them prove that it does not work .. let them study the Homeopathy in its real sense .. and they will understand.. it is not easy to be an Homeopath .. No short cuts in this science.. it needs accuracy .. with an Art to deal with this science"
And if they do not have courage and time to do so.. and want to stick to the Science .. answer being .. you have Headache .. cut the head off .. But Sorry .. I don't believe in such methods.. and in case they feel that only Placebo does this miracles .. accepted .. if placebo can do such wonders .. then why the Science wishes to Feed them Chemicals .. just to protect its own existence, they find at stake in presence of Homeopathy , and that too at the cost of making humanity suffer. So i leave it to them .. if they have an open mind let them answer .. at the very first place Dr. Burnett's Fifty Reasons for Being an Homeopath .. .. they can sure find the truth .. otherwise.. TRUTH NEVER CHANGES .. so why to bother to clarify about it ?
