Re: [ Mini-study on Tabacum Fumar
Hi Vera,
I think I'd also be interested in the consequences of stopping
smoking for them - for example a lot of people who stop smoking
complain about eating more and putting on weight.
Also if the smoking is something that keeps them feeling supported or
reduces their anxiety or provides a social connection - what impact
does stopping have on them.
So maybe prequestions would be around their own perceptions of why
they smoke, what value it has for them, why they want to stop - so
motivations in general.
Post questions could be - if successful in stopping smoking, have they
substituted another habit? Have they changed their life in other
ways? Is there anything about it that they miss? Do they actually
feel better? Can they see themselves as being able to remain a
nonsmoker? Do they feel they need ongoing support - are they the sort
of person who will ask for support?
If not successful - what do they tell themselves about why they still
smoke? What do they regard as the point at which it got too hard to
give up, what was happening then? Were they able to ask for support?
Would they be willing to try to give up again?
Gail.

How about Do you want to give up smoking or is it being forced on you? That
will help assess the motivation and if they really wish to succeed.
I always use EFT with smokers who want to quit.

persons with other addictions should be identified prior to the study. For them quitting to smoke will be more difficult, as will be for most with difficult life situations. Pts taking colesterol or pressure medication will not get adicted to this medication and the reason for the intake of the medication is not st related to make smoking cessation more difficult like anxiety, depression aso.
The number of previous attempts is also a factor considered important in those studies, like someone already pointed out.

Marco

Re: [ Mini-study on Tabacum Fumar
i dont know that i agree with you. as a person with
an addictive sort of personality, stopping smoking was
totally unconnected with anything else. it neither
made other patterns in my life either better or worse.
stopping smoking simply actually made me calmer, saved
me lots of money, and allowed my sense of smell and taste
to return.
one of the patterns that i have noticed in others is that
people with minimal smoking habits often have the hardest
time stopping.

Thanks Marco,
Sadly I'm already finding that a lot of the people who are interested in the study are on psychiatric meds, mostly antidepressants.

Hello Vera,
If you haven't already, you might want to look at Jeremy Sherr's book to help you organize your proving in a way that will make it a solid study.

Thanks Lynn, but this isn't a proving. It's a very small scale study to see if this particular remedy helps people to stop smoking (involving smoking your favourite cigarette and exhaling the smoke into a bottle partly filled with water, potentizing the water up to around 6D, sipping when craving a cigarette). It's such a simple method that if it does work, I want to recommend it more to patients.
