the combo phenom

Post by ForumGal »

Dear all,

Regarding "the combos phenom" message I wrote a couple days ago -- about how I had a heart pain, took out my little pack of 5 "heart" rems, held the pack to my chest/used kinesiology
( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/applied_kinesiology ) to test for needing one, got a "yes", then tested each rem individually, found the one I "needed", arnica, took it --
Shannon said:
Asking questions isn't part of the kinesiology system I employ -- consciously. I guess subconsciously I'm asking, "Is this good for me?" by even testing the substance! But I don't consciously use words. I just do the sway test, -- stand relaxed and hold the substance to my thymus area and wait for a definitive directional sway (about 10 seconds unless I'm going to fall over) -- a forward or right body sway is yes, a left or backward no.

No Margaret - all it did was to indicate something in that pack was suitable
True, something in a combo can be found to be suitable. Can it act if all rems in the combo are taken simultaneously? Evidently, based on experience with combos.
It's known of course that rems taken in sequence/proximity can knock out other rems. But the conversation on Minutus lately has been about practitioners giving multiple (complimentary) rems in a variety of sequential or even same-time prescriptions. Has been interesting!
You didn't ask, but I'm currently taking a combo remedy, "Yeast", by Natra-Bio. Contains 12 remedies (!), directions say start by taking every 2 hours til symptoms, possibly including
• Frequent stomach pains and digestion problems
• Skin problems (skin infections, eczema, psoriasis, acne)
• Foggy brain / Trouble concentrating
• Constant tiredness and exhaustion
• Anxiety
• Mood swings
• Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
• Anger outbursts
• Irritability
• Headaches
• Intense cravings for sugars, sweets, and breads
• Itchy skin

improve, then 4 times a day for two months. Couldn't hurt? I honestly am feeling better. Of course, self-diagnosed, but still. Muscle testing said try it already.

Best,
Margaret

Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever experienced a combo remedy producing the kind of deep, decisive, life-altering, long-term change that a well-chosen simillimum can provide? If so, please tell us about it.
And has anyone actually experienced situations that have required antidoting from using low potency combo remedies?
It would be good to move this discussion from the realm of theory to that of clinical experience.

I certainly have people come to me after having wonderful results from a commercial combo and associating this with 'homeopathy'. When they have a wonderful result from something simple, cheap and available - and the result has been so good that they were able to cancel surgery - that is certainly life-altering. In our vocabulary - I don't know if I would be able to say it was so deep, decisive or any way as long term as a well-chosen simillimum. However, if it worked sufficiently to prevent surgery, and sufficiently to get them to take the next step and make an appointment with a homeopath - then that alone could qualify as 'life altering'.
Likewise, having had individuals come after long term use of inappropriate combos I really can't say how 'messed up' they would have been without the remedies. I would guess it is a lot less 'messed up' than they would have been using pharmaceuticals - but that's only a guess.

I agree with this- I have seen people helped with ALL of their
symptoms with combinations- not just suppression. A friend of mine
swears by 2 combinations he uses for infertility, He is a kind of
specialist in this. Always Sepia 200 ; if there is scanty menses one
type of combination ( homeopathic herbals); if there is excess menses
another one... that is all.

At the same time I have also seen persons taking a combo with
aggravation of complaints and which still pointed to a remedy in the
combo and which given alone cured the case. It needs individual
testing and finding how it acts I guess...

I would rather have them messed up with homeopathy than allopathic
drugs. Mostly I have never found a case that was so messed up with
combinations that a well selected remedy would not act...

whether they help (at all/somewhat but not as well as the single

Yes - and I have reported it on this list before. 30 years follow-up.

Combos have been common in Germany for a long long time. I have never
heard any person report anything negative (except that they did not
work). The only person I have heard say so were classical homeopaths.

Not permitted:-)

Hi Margaret,
Well,I am not a "combo-person" (no matter what somepeople may think or
say:-) ) - for the very simple reason that I know too little about it
to make sense to use them - and muscle testing does not seem to work
for me.

However, some years ago I did more or less experiment with it a way
some polypharmacists do it - not by giving them at the same time but
one after the other.

For decades I used to be prone to back problems in a way that with
some innocuous kind of move I suddenly got lumbago/sciatica kinds of
pain. The classical way of using homeopathy - by symptoms, exciting
cause whatever - never worked, and I always had to resort to
acupuncture. This owrked, but since I do not know anyone doing it the
"real" TCM way, the problem always came back.

At one of those instances I got mad and thought I'd really find out
whether homeopathy was worthless for this problemm for me - so I
figured, whatever it was, there must be some kind of injury to the
spinal chord. I looked up that rubric in Kent and started taking the
remedies listed down the alphabet. It being an acute thing I took the
next one after about 2 hours. Lo and behold! when I got to Na. sulf
that did the trick. The pain started getting better real soon and
after a few hours was gone. Interestingly enough I have not yet had
another incident of this kind of thing happening (of course it may
happen again to-morrow:-)

Luise

i took a combo constitutional once and it was working.
but i really think it was because of one of the rx as
opposed the synergy between them. it was a combo put
together just for me, not an OTC combo.
i had more problem with single rx proving themselves
and needing to undo the effects of them

I have a patient whose large fibroid disappeared after 3 months of taking
Frax/Hydra/Thalspi/Sabina 6 . Now the first 3 is a combo that I know Helios
always keeps in but I got them to make it up for me with Sabina because of
the heavy menses!! Within a month if I remember the distension of the
abdomen had gone which my patient reckoned meant it was shrinking and at 3
months there was no discomfort or heavy profuse menses? Why 3 months?
Because we were told about the combo at college from Ann Saunders, a very
experienced homeopath and my notes said take for 3 months!! I had treated
this patient previously for something else - I think it was stress related
but she had nothing else wrong with her when she came. As usual my patient
did not want to undertake further allopathic investigations to tell her
something she already knew so I had no proof the large fibroid had gone
other than her observations.

Hi Rosemary,

Have a friend at work waho was interested in homeopathy so I lent her a book. Next time I saw her she told me about taking a combo for allergies and how wonderfully it worked. Maybe a month later, no more effect from the combes. No surprise to me but she surely was.Someday she'll come to me for a remedy but right now she's still reading.
