Charcoal grilled, oven grilled, oven roasted, braised, fried etc all smell/taste different.
That does not mean that one is more harmful than the other

Re: Microwave cooking (from the point of view of macrobiotics)
Microwave cooking along with other high temperature cooking is unhealthful and "lethal". That is why a raw foods diet is so healthy.

Why assume you want the food "high" temperature cooked?
Good cooking does not do that, instead it breaks down the cellulose cell
walls of plants just enough so you CAN get the nutrients out better -
any before/after nutrient analysis will show this

Re: Microwave cooking (from the point of view of macrobiotics)
Agreed: there may be no proof for 'harmful'. And it is equally safe to
say there is no proof for the contrary, that is, 'not harmful'.
I think it is pretty safe to say that the energy you receive through the
power lines, ending in your home, has gone through a number of
conversions. Where did the energy come from? First, there was some sort
of heating, caused by combustion of petrol, gas, coal, or (different
principle) splitting of atoms, each, I'd say, with their own influence
on the sort of energy, but each converting the original 'energy' into
heat. Next, (skipping heat into pressure, pressure into motion and
motion into electrical energy), the energy was converted into electrical
energy, going through power lines (including another conversion), ending
up in your home. Next, this energy was converted again into heat,
applied as induction, glowing electrical elements or microwave heating.
And after all these conversions, regular science tells me that these
instances/conversions of energy have no influence on the nature of
energy and it's effects, read: that is has the same effects on all
matter that the original energy has.
To me, such a statement is highly unlikely.
Prove me wrong.

Re: Microwave cooking (from the point of view of macrobiotics)
Hi Sourosh,
smell/taste different.
Of course they are different, partly due to different energies and in the
case of charcoal, aroma from the charcoal. That is in line with my
inference that it is a different process in terms of the energy process.
Normally one tries to use lowest heat (energy) possible. The point I am
trying to make is that microwave is touted as being better because of
shorter cooking time. But it is the energy level that is important, and
that is where microwaves destroy a lot of bonds and thus denatures the food.

Paul

Re: Microwave cooking (from the point of view of macrobiotics)
Dear Paul
Bonds are destroyed and denaturing take place which ever method of cooking is employed.
With most cooking systems, one varies the rate of heat being applied. With some dishes, a high rate may be applied first eg when cooking pieces of meat with onions etc in a little oil. This seals all the surfaces, allowing the meat to cook within its own juices so that it becomes tender and tasty. Cook the same meat on low heat and it might become tough as leather.
The same is true with microwave cooking. Not everything should be cooked on MAX for shortest period. That is only one of the settings.
In the way that some one taught us how to use the hob or oven (gas/electric) or how to BBQ, then we must also be taught how to use the microwave correctly.
(Again one would BBQ meat different to fish or chicken or vegetables).
Until someone produces EVIDENCE that microwave cooking is harmful, as the matter has nothing to do with homeopath, please can we close the subject.

I take it you mean the sort of evidence that is required to prove
homeopathy?

I am VERY plsd to say that we have plenty of evidence to show that people and animals have benefited from homeopathy.
