Principles of Homeopathy

Principles of Homeopathy

In conventional medicine, the symptoms are considered to be a manifestation of the disease. The drugs are given to kill the bacteria causing it or to dampen the symptom of the condition. Homeopaths, on the other hand, see the symptoms as the body's attempt to heal itself. They see the symptom as a positive sign that the body's defense mechanism is trying to fight the underlying cause and by this reasoning, they insist that the symptoms should not be suppressed as we are working against the body's attempt to cure it.

Homeopathic Medicine vs. Conventional Medicine

Homeopathic Medicine

Conventional Medicine

Illness
Is an individual expression of imbalance and has important meaning

Occurs in well-defined groups based on pathology, and meaning of illness is irrelevant

Symptoms

Are evidence of disharmony and the person's attempt to restore order

Are analyzed to follow progress of treatment
Are bad
Successful treatment makes them go away

Diagnosis

The understanding of the phenomenon of the illness

The whole person is taken into account
The search for the structural cause

Treatment

Individualized and based on the entire expression of symptoms
Self-care (what the client does) is emphasized

Based on like cures like and potentized microdoses of medicines
Based on the pathologic diagnosis
What the doctor does is emphasized

Based on opposing and suppressing symptoms, and high doses of medicine

Dear Jeff
1- you said: "Homeopaths, on the other hand, see the symptoms as the body's attempt to heal itself. They see the symptom as a positive sign that the body's defense mechanism is trying to fight the underlying cause and by this reasoning"
But Hahnemann the master in his 6th Organon says:

¤ 15 Sixth Edition

The affection of the morbidly deranged, spirit-like dynamis (vital force) that animates our body in the invisible interior, and the totality of the outwardly cognizable symptoms produced by it in the organism and representing the existing malady, constitute a whole; they are one and the same. The organism is indeed the material instrument of the life, but it is not conceivable without the animation imparted to it by the instinctively perceiving and regulating dynamis, just as the vital force is not conceivable without the organism, consequently the two together constitute a unity, although in thought our mind separates this unity into two distinct conceptions for the sake of easy comprehension.
17 Sixth Edition
Now, as in the cure effected by the removal of the whole of the perceptible signs and symptoms of the disease the internal alteration of the vital principle to which the disease is due - consequently the whole of the disease - is at the same time removed,1 it follows that the physician has only to remove the whole of the symptoms in order, at the same time, to abrogate and annihilate the internal change, that is to say, the morbid derangement of the vital force - consequently the totality of the disease, the disease itself.2 But when the disease is annihilated the health is restored, and this is the highest, the sole aim of the physician who knows the true object of his mission, which consists not in learned - sounding prating, but in giving aid to the sick.

2- You compared Homeopathy with conventional medicine. I think this comparison is impossible because there is no specific rules in conventional medicine ( IN HOMEOPATHY WE HAVE RULES : SIMILIA SIMILIBUS CURANTURE ), but conventional medicine is a mixed soup of very different methods.

3- The last point: it seems that Hahnemann the master beleived in Infectios ( viral - bacterial ) roots for diseases. In conventional medicine they dont beleive in infectious roots for chronic diseases ( except in researchs ) but Hahnemann in his book ( Chronic disease ) beleived that all chronic diseases have an infectious base.

Warm Regards

Farbod
