do homeopaths generally believe that HERBS are merely FOOD

Post by Ananda Ruchira »

Dear Preston,

As to the question of "Food" vs. "Herb", IMO certainly there are plenty of herbs & spices that are mild and flavourful enough to be considered as foods and are added into meals as such. After all that's how the culinary arts were developed (ie to give medicinal benefits to meals). Such herbs have less effect until they are given in concentrate (ie as teas or juices) Obviously other herbs are more powerful and need to be given in measured doses.

-------

I, and other practitioners at Abha Light, use a lot of herbs in the form of Mother Tinctures or 2x, either as the main remedy or to augment (ie boost the organs) a (higher) homeopathic prescription. Generally they are given in 5 or 10 drop doses daily for a period of time

all of these grow in Kenya or Africa and are "home"made at our pharmacy
neem
hypoxis (S. African, the so-called "African Potato", anti-HIV and panacea rx)
ashvagandha (withania somnifera)
sutherlandia ("cancer bush" from South Africa)
teatree (as a herb, not extract)

we use plenty of other MTs and have over 80 in stock-
hydrastis, echinecea, alfalfa, felix mas, teucreum, chenopodium, crategus, cactus, yohimbrim, agnus, aesculus, blatta, lobelia, chelidonium, carduus m, berberis, syzygium, ashok, arjuna, damania, to name a few.

Hi,

yes. but read Clarke (the Prescriber) and Boericke and you begin to realise that the "old masters" gave many of their remedies in grains and drop doses.

"homeopathic" = small doses, not just hyper-nano-micro doses.

My take on this is herbs are very similar to food, they can even be considered food but you have to know what they do and how they can affect you, like horse chestnut which can rid your body of hemorrhoids and their growths , it can shrink them. The homeopathic equivalent to horse chestnut would be Aesculus hippocastanum which I like better because, it goes into your blood and bypasses digested systems.,

Dear Ananda,

I thought I replied to this posting yesterday...mostly I wanted to
thank you for taking time to help me with this question! I am
beginning to feel that my need to answer this question is diminishing.

Again, thank you!

Homeopathy does not "go into your blood". It is energy medicine. If you
got an electric shock that would also be energy - you feel it's effects
in either case - but it does not "go into your blood" or "bypass"
anything.
It's a different kind of medicine from herbs - energy as opposed to
chemical - and should be understood for what it is :-))
