People practice different methods of therapeutics. Dr.Cotter in an
earlier post mentioned Liquid Prana treatment ( which sounded like
Noni juice to me or something like the name of a drainage clog remover)-
anyways - no offense just kidding
For the people who have this wider knowledge of alternative medicines-
is there any other treatment modality with emphasis on / practice based
on single medicine/ exposure/ selection in it except homeopathy? Has
any one come across some such beast?

I do not understand what you mean by selection.
I have heard of masters who sometimes have treated by
"single-needle" or just one herb - but it definitely would not be
common.
And of course in phytotherapy (herbal treatment) very often only one
herb is prescribed. This also applies to treatment based on iridology
- there again no longer common.

Re: Comparative medicine
Thanks Luise-
By exposure / selection I meant single exposure to the therapeutic
substance- so single medicine in other words...
Just trying to find if there are other modalities that emphasize the
importance of single medicine to the extent of homeopathy... to define
and differentiate homeopathy from other Complementary and Alternative
Medicines (CAMS)...

Comparative medicine
It's an interesting question! I can't think of any either...
It's been my understanding that one of the reasons for this in
(classical) homeopathy is the nature of the "push" we're trying to
give. Paraphrasing an explanation I was given a long time ago, and
which I guess has become part of my "paradigm"--we would like to find
that remedy which will "nudge" the imbalanced vital force in just the
right "spot", and just the right way, to cause a subtle yet profound
shift, causing / letting all the "levels" to fall into place. Not
poking at an edge here, a corner there, but letting the whole thing
"find its level" of itself. (Which seems in line with the idea, and
frequent observation, that a wrongly chosen remedy usually just does
nothing; e.g. if you've misunderstood the case, you aren't likely to
find the needed remedy...)
A good body of experience seems ("she said cautiously" :-/ ) to
support the idea that there is one "best" remedy that will do this
gently, powerfully and with elegance, and other remedies that may have
to "pinch hit", but will ultimately be a slower and/or more difficult
and/or less satisfactory cure (if that).
Many of the cautions so energetically taught by our "purists" are
really given with this in mind--the future homeopathic curability of
the case--perhaps more so than for the various other possible reasons.
One of the issues I've mulled over at various points, has been the
apparent trade-offs that sometimes have to be weighed--do we use this
remedy, that's apparently not quite "right" yet will probably give some
relief, and risk delaying or "messing up" the future cure, or do we
tough it out, refuse to "experiment", hold out for (hah) certainty. (I
say "hah" because actually I've come to really mistrust any homeopath
who claims to be "certain"; my two most frustrating sets of experiences
were with two who were "certain". I've had better work and less
frustration from others who admit to still being on a learning journey!
But still, I do see it as a real issue, a choice that sometimes needs
to be made.) I think this was/is a big thing of Vithoulkas's in
particular?
This is kind of half-a-thought...

Re: Comparative medicine
Just for the record, LIQUID PRANA is a special water that is imbued with
a new technology to create a healing liquid for bathing and drinking
that is rich in a new specie of oxygen that is bio-available but stable
(not systemically reactive). It's doing wonders for cancer and AIDS
patients. You'll be hearing a lot about it in the literature and
popular press in the next several months. Prana is the Indian word for
Life Force, not the fish that eats everything like PacMan.

Re: Comparative medicine
Interesting -
I know about prana - since I am from India- but this is the first
time I am learning about gathering it in bottles and putting it in
supermarket sports shelves
- far cry from all the asceticism associated with control of prana -
when I did a search on this- there is a liquid prana yoga, liquid
prana meditation and there is a mrs and mr excelex who are producing
liquid prana using a Hexahedron 999 - some kind of hex I guess- - a
biophotonic and negative ionic liquid that works wonders in drop
doses-
well I saw an interesting testimonial - " after 2 months of Harmony
Love ( Liquid Prana) the boy , who had only 2 teeth at 15 months -
now has 6 more- considering that this was in 2005 - and at the rate
of 6 teeth / 2 months- he would have around 70 teeth -
Liquid Piranha !!!
There is nothing related to Prana itself as explained in Hindu works
I guess, Prana being translated as Life this is a Revitalizing
liquid by the marketing material-
I would probably suggest an interesting research - injecting Liquid
prana directly into Muladhara and Kundalini gets recharged at its
base-
Or may be install Hexhedron 999 as a micro chip in the base of
coccyx- that is the only product that Mrs.and Mr.Excelex have
forgotten - Funnily there is a liquidprana.biz also
Enjoy -

Re: Comparative medicine
Weell - if Kundalini then goes straight UP the age of aquarius may
finally have arrived. (It should then be powerful enough to push
through any blockages, shouldn't it?)

Re: Comparative medicine
Since it is easier for water to go down than up, may be pineal gland
must be the one that needs the liquid prana first so that this can
go down to all other centers just by gravity-
or if you also know liquid prana yoga you can do a headstand after a
liquid prana injection and that might help in spiritual awakening...
or take a ride in one of those hair-raising games in a theme park-
we can call it "spiritual biophotonic hairionic sports"
