Rue - which is Ruta:
I've been looking for "Ruta" I knew a lady from Yugoslavia who took care of this ladies mother and was promised when she died she would bring her to America. She was only a teenager in 1920 (lived to a young age of 96 yrs born 1888) she brought with her a herb she called Ruta in which she would put into her tenure in which she used 100 proof brandy (grappa?) to soak the collections of rose hips, ruta and herbs CALLING IT travitsa, if you felt bad she'd give you a shot which was more then enough to not out what ailed you over night. I was very young she was my mentor capturing my attention with her motto: DOCTORS ARE GOOD FOR BROKEN BONES AND STITCHES.

When I went to the NCH conference in Philadelphia a few years ago, we had an evening at a museum where there was (near the Lachesis-producing Bushmaster snake, embalmed) a tiny homeopathic remedy kit that some soldier had carried into the Civil War. The bottles were minuscule, only room for a few pellets each, and there were not many of them in the tiny leather kit; most amazing and touching. Beth and Jo March’s father was a chaplain in the Civil War, if I remember correctly, and would have carried such a kit, perhaps. Guess they maybe had one at home, too. Teresa (Northern VA, USA)
