Namaste Ananda,
I think it is very difficult to be aware of your acute condition in detail when you are sick and when it is not a routine condition. I remember sitting nearly fainting over the computer as I was going through a kidney stone attack and trying to find a remedy. I proved incompetent because of the pain. You probably see typhus routinely so it is no big deal, but most people when they see a tick bit and hear Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever do not think typhus. For salmonella as Rosemary pointed out, I would not think typhoid except I happened upon the CDC site when I was studying a patient's history of samonella. And I was not sick. The feverish homeopath is further confused by unnecessary detail that the allopaths add to their own incompetence with dealing with the disease (epidemic?). So if the homeopath is already sick, s/he is also having difficulty thinking through the wealth of conflicting information that can be found on the internet. Get the picture?
Past your own acute conditions, getting quick and good at type casting epidemic disease patterns seems essential. I am not sure if it is the Hahnemannian epidemic disease pattern that we are looking for or something that is intrinsic to specific diseases such as this tick bite. I suspect it is the latter since it was Rosemary's susceptibility that brought out the typhus symptoms. Most people don't get them.
I think that Rosemary is very courageous in using herself and her own experience for pointing out a weakness in the typical homeopathic education. She could just keep her mouth shut and just remain looking like the infallible homeopath that a student like me would imagine her to be.
Ommmm,
Ellen

I think Didi was reacting more to Rosemary's statement that she
couldn't find anyone *else* who knew what to do either (well, she *did*
finally get good homeopathic help, but evidently short of being able to
stay out of hospital, skip antibiotics etc.). To which I'd add
that--who one is able to *find* and make use of at the last minute, in
a crisis, and for such an uncommon situation, is not the same as "any
other homeopath in the country!" Maybe there are some who could have
managed it if located in time... I don't know.
But I would agree with her, that here in the US (I wonder if Europe is
different?) there must be VERY few who have any practical experience,
or even any significant "textbook experience", with life-threatening
acutes at all, and particularly with diseases such as this which are
(a) not often seen here, and (b) would almost always be taken straight
to an emergency room (by the time the severity becomes evident).
Rosemary is *extremely* lucky in having been able to use remedies
during her hospital stay!!!! In having the knowledge she had, plus the
back-up help from her partner and her homeopathic helper, and also in
having such marvelously cooperative hospital workers.
Maybe Rosemary *could* have managed it, had she not been the patient as
well as (at first) the doctor!

Hi Shannon,
In Germany - and probably most other European countries - it is the
same.
Very few homeopaths will treat acutely life-threatening diseases. For
one thing: most of the homeopaths are not MDs and are not allowed to
treat true epidemics. As far as other life-threatening diseases are
concerned: well, we are not supposed to be a "danger to public health"
- and treating such illnes may easily be interpreted (and has been
so) as bein such a danger. If they do treat such
conditions better not lose a patient (this also applies to MDs)!
Regards
Luise
there must be VERY few who have any practical experience, or even

One thought to all who, free of doubt,
So definitely know what's true:
2 and 2 is 22 -
and 2 times 2 is 2:-)
