She was in *extreme* pain which is the only reason I changed remedies
so quickly trying to match the changing picture.

joints of the rib cage surrounding her heart. She developed nephritis
and hematuria was at 4+. Creatinine is at 0.7. I gave her Phosphorous
and then Staphysagria which helped the nephritis - 0 blood cells in
urine within 2 days. Kidney pain resolved. However, the purpura,
bruising, and pain continued to worsen.

start after a virus or IGa allergy. We think it was from a peanut
reaction. (She had peanuts the night before the stomach ache and then
a peanutbutter sandwich the day the rash appeared. Looking back she
has had stomach aches with vomiting in the middle of the night for no
apparent reason and we thought it might be apples but now we see she
was eating peanut butter with the apples.)
104. This was the first time my daughter did not get a "post-viral
paralysis" following a high fever. She has had a post-viral paralysis
following a high fever virus on 3 other occasions. The last time she
took Nat Mur, 200c which cured it within 10 minutes. We think now
that she was having the start of HSP each time but never progressed
to the rash.

I sympathise with your daughter. I had a similar kind of allergic
reaction (Arthus response) many years ago and remember how painful it
was. I did not have the purpura, but the joint pain etc was there.

From my own research/experience in allergic responses, I find that
vitamins for adrenal support are very helpful during recovery,
especially Vit C ( I like it as ascorbic acid pure crystals, a teaspoon
as often as needed with plenty of fluid), pantothenic acid (I like this
1500mg a day during problems) and Vit B6 50 to 100mg a day.... Plus a
general B-50 vitamin to ensure no excessive losses of other B's. And
lots of Vit E and fish oil as anti-inflamamtory items.

As to the idea of China, it is interesting to me that it is quite often
helpful in FIP, an illness in which there is liver and kidney damage but
which starts with immune system damage, and blood vessel leaking, as
antibodies destroy the system. The cats who get it are also unable to
walk, need to be carried etc, and can't eat for stomach cramps.
The way the blood leaks is different - in FIp it leaks into the
abdominal cavity, and sometimes the thoracic cavity where here purpura
is the result.

I have Radar 9 and do not know how to include the remedies for each
rubric, but some are very specific to China or contain only 0 to 3 other
remedies:
MIND - FEVER - before - agg.
STOMACH - PAIN - fluids; after loss of - cramping
EXTREMITIES - CRAMPS - Knees - walking agg.
EXTREMITIES - PARALYSIS - Upper limbs - rheumatic
EXTREMITIES - TOUCH - agg.

MIND - CARESSED; being - aversion to
is a rubric which is peculiar in relevant cats too.
It has 6 rems incl China.

Anyway - I hope these may be helpful ideas, and that you find the right
remedy soon.

I know that this hard situation has made you anxious.I think this picture is similiar to an acute viral state,affecting CNS(paralysis),skin(eruptions),GI(pain,vomiting),chest(pain),extremities and joints(inflammation) and kidneys;something like Coxsackie-Echo viruses.This is an acute state with the quality of inflammation and periodicity.In my opinion,the best probability is Bell.Referring to Materia Virosa,Bell is a main antimiasmatic remedy for these viral states,and it can be a good remedy for post vaccinose states too.

Thank you all for such excellent information. This is extremely
helpful as I have some real leads to investigate. This is where I am
at this point. I am seriously considering Arsenicum (given the great
reminder regarding poisoning even though the mental state does not
seem to fit), China Sulphuricum (which has all the China plus the
purpura), Silicea (given the virus she had 3 weeks prior responded
so well to it and she has the swelling of the glabella again),
Belladonna (especially since the solanaceae family seems to crop up
frequently for her acute-wise) and a few others. But this is the
latest development...

Right now I am looking at mothballs as a source of poisoning as the
night we arrived in Maine, she slept in a bed full of mothballs
which we did not know until morning. (Perhaps her immune system was
already compromised by the peanuts and previous illness.)I found a
JAMA study last night indicating mothballs can incite allergic
purpura. Also, yesterday she developed the "worm like" Cina symptoms
she has had in the past - one eyeball protruding slightly and
offensive breath, and Naphthalinum (one of the mothball ingredients)
as a remedy treats worms and is similar to Cina. Naphthaline also
enhances the breakdown of red blood cells (vasculitis) and 1,4-
dichlorobenzene (the other ingredient in mothballs) causes toxicity
after skin absorption - resulting in petechiae, purpura, and
swelling of hands and feet.

So I am thinking the "most similar" remedy would be mothballs once
potentized and diluted. Chronic Diseases, 379.1:

...for it does not remain idem (the same); even if the prepared itch
substance should be given to the same patient from whom it was
taken, it would not remain idem (the same), as it could only be
useful to him in a potentized state, since crude itch substance
which he already has on his body as an idem is without effect on
him. But the dynamization or potentizing changes it and modifies it;
just as gold leaf after potentizing is no more inactive crude gold
leaf in the human body, but in every stage of potentization it is
more and more modified and changed. (Chronic Diseases)

Lastly, this morning her chief complaint was severe stomach pain
which she described as "a square box bumping around in my stomach
and the corners causing sharp pains." She also has had severe
tenesmus. This made me think of Spigelia which has pains like sharp
objects sticking in and she freaked out over the needles when she
had her blood drawn at the hospital. It also has tenesmus and treats
worm symptoms like Cina. It is also the "chronic" of arnica - if you
will.

I gave her one dose and she immediately said she was going to throw
up. She didn't but then had a BM which relieved most of her stomach
pain. She is resting as comfortably as she can right now.

So we'll see how the day progresses. I may not need anything else
for now. I am trying to be as conservative as possible with remedies
but she is suffering so and was in so much pain.

This is an amazing group and I am so grateful for every one of you.

You raise some interesting points to consider. She never had the
periodicity prior to the Carc - don't know if that matters.
Yes, weather change significant - went from hot, humid Florida to
foggy, damp Maine. (Worse at seaside.) Definitely excited prior to
trip but not agg by it.

Have not seen the Gallavardin's reference but can't wait to review!

Delainey is normally a very independent child, mature, but had
issues with fear (dark, being alone) - mostly because she says she
sees spirit which frightens her. Homeopathy has mostly addressed
these - no longer sleeps with light on. She has no trouble being by
herself now. However, she is like me and will not reveal things
(meaning keeps it to herself) for fear of consequence. So if she has
a stomach ache or sickness, may not tell me until it's really bad as
she would fear I wouldn't let her go to a friend's house or
something like that.

She says she doesn't want to go to school but when she goes she
loves being with her friends. And she does well academically -
mostly A's and B's. She is definitely fearful of an overly strict
teacher (which she had last year and the year prior to being
homeschooled). The teacher she had in between was extremely kind and
sensitive to her sensitivity.

I suppose because I am firm but gentle in my reprimands, any time
she is spoken to harshly by someone else, it upsets her and she
feels the person doesn't like her.

Thank you for this as it will be helpful for me to better consider
her remedy once we are through this crisis. Any thoughts are welcome.

I guess you've seen the rubric - 'Mathematics'.... And Gallavardin's
Repertory of Pshycic Medicines has some interesting suggestions
about learning abilities.

Interesting that she fears the teacher will yell at her, and got
herself into the position of you yelling at her, and now you're
totally tangled up with her need. Could be better to have a mother
who will help her pick up the pieces after being yelled at by
someone else. Maybe part of the picture is around the need to
separate or a fear of independance which goes with extreme anxiety?
Given that a strong fear is often a protection from a strong desire,
perhaps underneath she really does want to go to school. What does
she fear losing if she is independant?

Hi!
I will have to think about that. She is normally not
very "Pulsatilla-like" but *extremely* obstinate and not at all
clingy. I am very affectionate with her and she likes the hugs and
kisses but doesn't overly crave them. However, I will give it
consideration as underneath it all, I think there is a child
desparate for affection from her father. She has *many* Nat Mur
qualities but Nat Sulph seems to work better for her.

Sulphuricum which has all the symptoms, including the Purpura. This is

Hi Erica,

Where I was coming from with 'Ailments from excitement' was that
thing with Coffea and China where good news/joy seems to be a
causative factor. My understanding was that this extrapolates to
those people who are always sick when on holidays, or at a party, or
get their period on their wedding day....

My understanding of the symptoms that a person experiences from a
proving are that their symptoms are from the intersection between
their own susceptibilities and all the possible symptoms of a remedy.
So those symptoms that come out early for the individual in a proving
are the most valuable indicators of the individual's susceptibility
pattern. That is why I think periodicity is really valuable in your
daughter's case.

Building resiliance in our children is a fascinating area. There
seems to be a fine line between a sort of sensitivity towards their
feelings that encourages them to develop an incapacitating
oversensitivity, and a sensitivity that provides a strengthening base
because it believes in their ability to cope while never asking too
much.
