lorhidrato de pargeverina?

Post by Shannon M »

Does anyone know what the English name for this drug would be?
It's written as lorhidrato de pargeverina, but likely should be
clorhidrato de pargeverina?)
Thanks!

Thanks, Peter!
Do you know why it's not used--were there problems with it, or
marketing issues?
I'm not able to find much (nothing useful) on-line, and even the online
Merck Manual doesn't list it. Any idea why?

Would that be Papaverin by any chance?

Papaverin? I can't tell! Wen I google pargeverina I get bunches of
"hits", but all strikingly uninformative, most in Spanish, and most of
the English ones don't seem to actually mention it at all (so WHY are
they coming up at all??). So--I have no idea what it is. Except this
bit of translation:

Medical - unspecified
Spanish term or phrase: PARGEVERINA
it is part of a medicina
Zareer
English translation:Pargaverine
Es un medicamento y se usa como un antipasmodico, para aliviar los
espasmos abdominales... [[That part I can translate--"It's a medicine
used as an antispasmodic, to alleviate abdominal spasms." Odd, because
the person now taking it does not have abdominal spasms...]]

May be here:

maybe you can get access.

I found some sites blaming the pharmaceutical manufactures for selling this stuff to third world countries, which is no longer allowed in Europe, but no explaination why this esp. is harmful.

Hi Shannon,

I found out just a little:

It has been taken from the market in germany long ago (reason not
stated) but it is still sold by Boehringer in 3rd world countries. It
is an extract from parsley.

It seems you can also get it in on-line pharmacies. Was it prescribed
to the person by a doctor or did s/he get it for herself/from some
friend or such/pick it up OTC in some country?

It is listed everywhere as an antispasmodic remedey.

regards

Luise

Thanks, Luise!
It was prescribed for her by a doctor in Mexico.
Hm, extract of parsley doesn't *sound* too dangerous...??

Hi Luise!

Where did you get this from? I found no relation between parsley and pargeverin?

when googling.
