Hi Rona,
Would you recommend any of these as a good bet for (different case) dry spasmodic (but not dramatic) cough in the morning with white expectoration (or possibly vomit) in a pregnant woman? I've tried Silica and Nat-Mur so far with no result.

spasmodic cough remedies
Re: spasmodic cough remedies
Hello Vera,
The remedy you need may not even be on this list. It is simply my 'quick reference' list for the dry spasmodic coughing. I keep these lists because a wonderful remedy sometimes does not rep well in the context of a full case. In acute situations I've seen excellent results with spongia, hepar sulph calc and drosera. I also recall a case where the primary remedy was phos, but the cough responded very well to bryonia. I think I would simply make sure to look at the remedies on the list in light of the full case.

Vera-
Did it start only during pregnancy? Any more modalities? Positional?
Seeing how it is mixed with ?vomitus ?waterbrash? is it because of
some pressure effects? In the morning is it right after waking up?
Conium is a medicine mentioned freq. in cough during pregnancy; some
more symptoms / modalities might clarify more...

Re: spasmodic cough remedies
H, it started just after she came home after being hospitalised for some bleeding. It seems to be during the same time that she's experiencing pain in her upper back and shoulder, possibly more to the right. The back and shoulder pain are an old symptom from before the pregnancy. Nat-m helped with that pain before the pregnancy. However, I was treating her for infertility - Nat-M didn't help there, but Bach flower remedies did, it seems. Initially when she came this time, she said that she felt someone was clutching at her chest, and made hand movements that expressed that feeling. I think the Nat-M has helped the back and shoulder pain now again.
This coughing only started during the pregnancy, but she has had coughs before, is especially susceptible in summer when there is air conditioning. I asked her how she felt while she was in hospital, since it seemed that was the only visible trigger, apart from the hormonal pregnancy. She said she felt good being in the hospital, felt she was being taken care of. The thought of Pulsatilla flitted through my mind, but I don't have much to base it on.
It's not clear to her what's coming up, waterbrash, vomit, expectoration. All she can say is that it's white and there is quite a lot of it, although the quantity seems to be lessening slightly.
Thanks for the input,
Vera
