Bad day for health in America.......

Post by Carol Boyce »

It's a very bad day for health in America....

It doesn't matter whether you practice / use CAM therapies or not, what S1082 means is that Big Pharma basically now owns the US - yes USA and US as in you and me, the media, the Senate, no matter which party.....with all the potential implications of that for health in general and for the ability of people to choose their therapy of choice....and this in the same week that the 2007 report from the Institute of Medicine estimates that 1,500,000 Americans are injured every year by pharmaceutical drugs......

What's even sadder is that an amendment which would have at least addressed some of the bigger issues of conflict of interest and the extended powers of the FDA via the proposed Reagan-Udall Foundation was defeated by ONE VOTE. The people were heard and there is something on record relating to not changing DSHEA but it's not in the Bill anywhere, just recorded as a point of clarification during the debate, so it's doubtful if that would hold up in court..

Big Pharma will have carte blanche to continue unchecked unless there is a major public outcry when it goes to the House. Let's use this experience as training for the upcoming campaign.

Thanks to all of you who did see the bigger picture and contacted your Senators - you can check how they voted via the link below.
