Friends,
Previously, Irene de Villers asked why the CHC has not certified homeopaths who specialize in veterinary care. I passed her email on to key members of the CHC, and Richard Pitt has answered her questions and concerns below...

The CHC is open to all practitioners of classical homeopathy and we are currently looking into veterinary homeopaths. (It has not been feasible for us to do so before). The annual fee goes toward basic administration of the organization, including paying a Director to manage everything. The CHC cannot survive only on exam fees as of now.
I can assure Irene that no "profit" is being made. I'm sure there are better ways of making a profit than volunteering hundreds of unpaid hours of work! We always publish an annual financial report which is sent to certified homeopaths and is public knowledge as we are a non profit organization. The website is currently up to date but is being worked on again (as is the nature of these things), but rest assured that we are functioning well.
Regarding the hours of training we require, the CHC does not evaluate educational competency as it is not our job to do so. Another organization, the Council on Homeopathic Education is attempting to do so and the CHC is working with that organization. Both organizations have complementary yet distinct functions. Up until now, having a number of hours as a prerequisite is the best way we've been able to address this situation as many people learn homeopathy in piece meal way, which is very hard to evaluate. We let the examination process evaluate competency.
Best wishes,
Richard Pitt, CHC
