Re: Nausea

Post by Rochelle »

I have a patient I have written about before with Supra Ventricular Palpitations. These are not as back as they were but it is the constant nausea that she has had since last November that is getting her down.At last after many investigations for which she has had to pay for privately or wait months on the National Health Service , they have found a thickening in the small intestine. She was warned that this could be cancer but there was no inflammation around the thickening. She has had a Barium meal which was clear. We have tried everything for the nausea Rx wise and nothing has helped. She has now lost loads of weight so unfortunately it does look like cancer. She is seeing her consultant again next week. The other SRP is frothy saliva which is constant except for the off occasions when the nausea lifts. I really do not feel this is psychosomatic as this woman has been a patient for a couple of years as have her children as needed. Sepia years ago got rid of tender breasts, 3 day headaches and excoriating skin on her feet which was her initial presenting complaint in July 05 . Could the Sepia have acted in a suppressive manner and caused all this? Yes she has had a lot of stress at work but has been off work since last November.
Does anyone know of a remedy that can ease the constant nausea which start when she wakes, lifts occasionally for 1/2 hour in the evening, is associated with no appetite but she is making herself eat to keep her weight up and is slightly amel lying on her back. "I just want to lie down and sleep to get rid of it" "The nausea is a feeling like you get before throwing up but it is on a plateau and doesn't change. "The mornings are very debilitating because of the nausea.I'd rather lie in bed feeling sick than feel sick downstairs feeling so ill on my own. In the afternoon I feel I have to get up to make a meal for my family and help the kids with their homework. She wants company. "I feel I am a failure letting people down because I can't get better.
When she came into me today after going food shopping she looked dreadful, possibly with a yellow tinge to her skin but looked better when she left.
If the consultant says that he still can't find what is wrong (he found Candida at one point and she was given allopathic drugs for it so according to him it won't still be there!!) I am thinking of referring her to one of my college tutors in Manchester - Anne Saunders who Joy knows of and is renown for taking on difficult cases.
Any ideas or support in this one will be much appreciated.

MIND - DESPAIR
MIND - PROSTRATION of mind
STOMACH - APPETITE - increased - accompanied by - nausea
STOMACH - NAUSEA - sleep - after - agg.
ABDOMEN - CANCER - Intestines
ABDOMEN - CANCER - Intestines - accompanied by - Heart complaints
GENERALS - CANCEROUS affections - advanced stage
MOUTH - SALIVA - frothy

Suggest:
Have a look at Cadm-met
I'd also make sure she's taking loads of Vit B6 (plus a general B vit)
as that is used up very fast in stress situations (eg pregnancy,
radiation, motion sickness to name a few typical stress situations - and
hers is certainly one!) and deficiency of B6 causes ongoing nausea issues.

I'd also look at maybe adding herbs such as Chelidonium tincture
(matches the jaundice) and ginger root - to the food. I suggest these
based on success in critical cases with helping nausea with them - as I
am no herbalist!
I have found that quantity is critical and individual. (Some cats need
half a drop, some need 3 drops per meal - some need more initially and
then much less like a dilute half drop per meal later etc.)

Just some thoughts .....

Namaste,
Irene

Dear Rochelle,
LEAD POISONING
“The first sign to appear is the impairment of nutrition or even when the patient experiences no loss of strength, his skin assumes a sallow tint. Thickening of intestines. Granular degeneration of the kidneys is very common. The facial appearance of the patient is particularly striking. It is extremely pale, yellow and ash-coloured, almost corpse-like in ugliness. There is extreme and rapid emaciation. The patient is slow of perception; there is intellectual torpor, lassitude and gradually growing apathy.” (NM Choudhuri, A Study of Materia Medica– Plumbum metallicum).
“There are set up conditions of kidney irritation with albuminuria, ending in granular degeneration with attendant heart hypertrophy, optic neuritis and blindness. Cardiac weakness. Pulse soft and small, dicrotic. Wiry pulse. Pulse wiry, slow sinks even to 40. Painful constriction of peripheral arteries.” (Robin Murphy, Homeopathic Remedy Guide - Plumbum metallicum).
Some of the other remedies relating to lead toxicity are:

Alumen, Alumina, Causticum, Kalium Bromatum, Kalium Iodatum, Nux Moschata(Lead colic), Petroleum, Sulphuricum Acidum.
Lead is highly carcinogenic. Sepia composition (below) might help you to search for suppressive Sepia effect, if any.

“The chemical composition and thermal property of cuttlefish (Sepia pharaonis) muscle were studied. The head and mantle contained 11.9-14.9% protein, 0.5% fat, 1.2-1.3% ash, and 0.6-1.8% collagen. Lipids from the head and mantle contained phospholipid as the major component (78.6-87.8% of total lipid), with 10.6-19.5% diglyceride. Polyunsaturated fatty acids constituted 50.3-54.9% of fatty acids with a high content of DHA and EPA. The n-3 PUFA contents were greater than n-6 PUFA. The C16:0 and C18:0 were the most abundant saturated fatty acid in the head and mantle. The cuttlefish muscle consisted of myofibrillar proteins as the major protein (53.1-58.4%). Sodium dodecylsulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) analysis revealed that myosin heavy chain (MHC), paramyosin and actin were the major proteins and varied with the portions. Differential scanning colorimetric (DSC) study revealed three transitions corresponding to the thermal denaturation of myosin and paramyosin, connective tissues and actin, at temperatures of 49.8-50.3, 59.8-60.3 and 74.7-78.8 °C, respectively. Zinc and iron were the dominant trace minerals in both portions. “

Dear Rochelle,

In addition to the earlier post.
In Clinical cases By D. A. Gorton, M.D. reported in Hahnemannian Monthly 1971-1872 No 11. "The walls of the small intestines are slightly thickened, and lined with a light yellowish substance. Orfila. " consequent to alumen toxicity.
In HUGHES R. and DAKE J. P., A Cyclopaedia of Drug Pathogenesy (hs1).
"Mucous membrane of these intestines was much thickened, and in superior portion had a white and granulated aspect. At inferior part of small intestine, mucous membrane was thickened and softened, and began to exhibit traces of vascularity, which were very distinct in sigmoid flexure and rectum, where there was little or no corrosion." consequent to bromium toxicity.
"Intestines ...thickened;" consequent to lathyrus sativus toxicity.
"The cellular coats of the stomach and intestines are much thickened." consequent to plumbum metallicum toxicity.
"narrowing and thickening of the intestines," consequent to secale cornutum toxicity.
"The coats of stomach and intestines were thickened and probably inflamed." consequent to veratrum viride toxicity.
Also read pages 209 – 222 of chapter IX of RAUE C. G., Diseases of Children (res1) on Acute ileo-colitis; acute intestinal catarrh; dysentery.
Potassium nitrate (saltpetre) is a common food preservative which has its critics. European Union catalogues it as E252. According to Eduard von Grauvogl, Text Book of Homoeopathy, saltpetre causes "thickening of some of the intestines"

Interesting - I will get her to take B6 and I do have Chelidonium tincture
which I could get her to take- Maybe 6 drops (my standard dose!!) at meal
times. She has tried ginger root when it first started. I will look at Cad
Met- Someone else suggested Cad Phos but I can't find any MM on it.
Thanks Irene

Nausea

Post by Luise Kunkle »

Hi Rochelle,

a non-homeopathic remedy for nausea , probably not to cure but perhaps
to palliate, is ginger juice. This is from TCM.

Luise
