Merc Sol and Viv

Please can someone tell me the difference between Merc Sol and Merc Viv.
Does it matter which one I use? I remember asking this question when at
college and never got a definitive reply!!!

Merc Viv is Mercury Metal!

Merc Sol is Dimercuros ammonium nitrate
= 2(NH2Hg2)NO3H2O which was used in the proving by Hn.

Most MM books combine the two remedies together!

According to Clarke "Hn recommended the use of the Merc Sol as equally OK on
the same symptoms)
