Alcohol for remedies

Post by Mary-anne Black »

Hi everyone,

I would like to be able to make up the higher potencies from an LM1 when
needed. The difficulty is in obtaining the higher proof alchohol needed to
make up the higher potencies.
In H.'s directions in the Organon, he lists a 95% grain alcohol. From what I
understand, this higher proof alcohol is needed in so that the sugar pills
don't melt when they are medicated.

I called the liquor store and found out that if I can get a prescription
from a medical doctor, I'd be able to buy ethyl alcohol (I'm in Canada)
which is that kind of proof.
Chuckle....didn't think I'd ever be in a position where I'd consider calling
the doctor and asking for alcohol for 'MEDICINAL PURPOSES'!....seems so
corny!

Hmmmm...as I don't anticipate taking any trips to the states in the near
future (where I hear it is obtainable without a presription)....I might have
to go this route....

Cheers!
Mary-anne B.

Have a look at what they call ever clear. That is what my tutor uses.
Maria.........is that the name of it? She is also on this list.

You can use Everclear.
YOu can get that in Canada and some states in the USA.
I also use Skye vodka because it is triple filtered.

where do you get Everclear. I had tried to get grain alcohol in NY and Mass this past year without any success. The drugstores and liquor stores I checked with do not even carry it, even for a prescription.

Hello Mary-anne -

good to hear from you ...

........ 95% grain alcohol. From what I

In Quebec it is available at the liquor stores -
around $60,- for a litre or so - last time I stocked up a few years ago .....

Or a letter from a pharmacy can do, as well -
if you can link up with someone who is open to it, that is ......

our clinic in london - seemed to use red lable vodka - remember proof does
not mean % of alcohol - you half the proof and you get the % - so its 47.5%
alcohol needed; i think thats right - i hope that helps.
- we;ve never used anything but volka and nothing near as strong as ethyl
alcohol - that might dissolve too quickly.

I believe you can buy the equivalent of Everclear at the LCBO in Ontario--it is sold in bottles labelled ALCOHOL/ALCOOL. No brand name, just plain glass bottles with the LCBO's label on it.

I'm certain you don't need to purchase this with a note from a pharmacist--many people buy the pure alcohol to make home made liquer. My mother's done this for years and never had any difficulty purchasing it at the local LCBO.

Hope that helps,
Nancy

I was taught to use vodka, too, and the remedies work fine.

Hi Nancy -

At 06:02 01/24/2002, you wrote:

Yes, one can buy, but certainly not the high percentage in Ontario -
With a letter from a pharmacy one can, though.
In Quebec no letter is required and high percentage is available freely.

Maybe some or other individual got away with having been a customer for
many years
and somehow the question was not posed early on, and then so it goes, but
most likely if you walk into a liquor store today and ask for 94% clear
alc, they'll look at you
sharply, question your use, and will request some kind of official writing -
they need it to put into their files for selling the 94% alc -

If you find out that one can get it freely in Ontario, though,
by all means let us know and I'm sure we'll all run out immediately and
stock up again!!
