And please encourage others - sometimes it takes a while to come through - sometimes it gets caught up in Junk mail / Spam filters so check there.

I have asked the SOH and the ARH to send the petition to their members but so far no response - anything you can do to encourage them would be great..

Did you see the article in the Observer last weekend? Was good to have the publicity but same old same old - DoH made a public statement about being powerless to prevent the closure if the PCT's withdraw funding - which they are doing - and of course the reporter neglected to mention petition etc.

No point in using energy responding to THAT - better to use it to drum up public support for homeopathy!

sorry no response for you from the SOH/ARH, better in my experience ( and others) to contact an individual otherwise it gets left to the next AGM :-p

thanks for the observer link, as to the other, as you say , a recipe for high BP indeed, personally I avoid those sites like the plague.

It still stuns me that there's no central office for us ( homeopaths) to deal with this and that our efforts for PR/media response/marketinbg of homeopathy and issues like this current one are left largely uncoordinated.

I put it to each of the registering bodies at various times but their response was along the lines of "we are too busy arguing among ourselves to spend time arguing with the media" - at least that's what it sounded like to me.

Sorry to be blunt about that but I tried and it was like banging my head against a brick wall
(here come the rebuttals - but they still won't get on with it)

Dear Carol
If any one should be able to show Homoeopathy works, it should be RLHH.
So if they are being closed down because PCT's are not getting positive responses from them, then whose fault is?
Does its management need an overhaul?

PCT = Primary Care Trust
"Primary Care is the care provided by people you normally see when you first have a health problem. It might be a visit to a doctor or dentist, an optician for an eye test, or just a trip to a pharmacist to buy cough mixture. NHS Walk-in Centres, and the phone line service NHS Direct, are also part of primary care. All of these services are managed for you by your local Primary Care Trust (PCT).

Your PCT will work with local authorities and other agencies that provide health and social care locally to make sure that your local community's needs are being met.

PCTs are now at the centre of the NHS and control 80 per cent of the NHS budget. As they are local organisations, they are in the best position to understand the needs of their community, so they can make sure that the organisations providing health and social care services are working effectively.

For example, your PCT must make sure there are enough services for people within their area and that these services are accessible. They must also make sure that all other health services are provided, including hospitals, dentists, opticians, mental health services, NHS Walk-In Centres, NHS Direct, patient transport (including Accident & Emergency), population screening, and pharmacies. They are also responsible for getting health and social care systems working together to the benefit of patients."

They are obviously charge with over-looking the expenditure of NHS funds. So they must see results from the referrals to RLHH.

It is for RLHH to prove this.

Sadly, when there was a comparison of ALTERNATIVE / Complimentary therapies, a 5-6 year old girl with eczema was sent to RLHH by her GP.

She was seen by a youngish lady doctor who quickly decided on Graph. (I could not think why).

Needless to say the remedy did nothing and the conclusion was easy to reach.

Proper management would have ensured a top-notch homoeopath seeing this girl on TV and thus giving Homoeopathy and RLHH a better chance.

If I was a GP, would I send a patient to them? NO!

While I agree about the harm of the infighting....

.. in this instance I think the resistance to the closing would have
to come from the patients, in order to have any impact.

I have personally posted several pieces of information to our members - about 500 homeopaths and student homeopaths on our e-group. So it is a little unfair of Simon to say that nothing has been done by ARH.
Anyone who wishes to pass on any information germaine to homeopathy to ARH members - would you please pass the information to me and I will post it.

Hi Steve,

I am very happy to know that you have posted info about this situation - I hope that you were also able to include the e-petition. It is imho a time to get the public motivated.

I have emailed both the ARH and the SOH to ask for advice so I didn't step on toes, impact anything that was already going on and I have not had any response from either place - the fact that you are sending info out reassures me that I should carry on.
