Talking of Adrenals, thymus, thyroid has any one experience of using
potencies of Pituitary, There is anterior and posterior gland and
my information is inadequate ? the whole gland. As it is the master
gland surely must often be needed.
Studying Pitu-a in Mac Rep search [fairly old now ]I see dread and
fear of everything, sensitivity , need for company and I wonder
about such a child who is height challenged , nasal obstruction
etc. Would like to understand picture better. Just curious if
anyone has experience of use, Thank you Jean

The pathogenesy of this remedy was initiated in March of 1981, and its experimentation was clinical. In the beginning it was indicated - by the following key symptoms: Reaction to current metal earrings, - galactorrhoea, menses disturbances and periodical symptoms that coincided with the menstruation.
It was administered for the first time in the case of a rebellious galactorrhoea, when first treated with allopathic medication and afterwards with homoeopathic treatment; fruitfully, I observed the disappearance of the inflammatory reaction to the current metal earrings and a correction to old menses disturbances, which had only progressed to a better stage but not cured with the remedies best selected.
With only these symptoms there commenced an indication of a remedy and I also observed the disappearance of other ailments. When the - symptoms which was disappearing was a chronic and clear one, and not a cyclical one with a history of spontaneous disappearance, note of this was indicated in the protocol of clinical experimentation. In this manner, by September of 1986, five and half years later, there were - more than 500 symptoms. Actually, seven years later, the pathogenesy - now has 766 symptoms, which is remarkable, having in mind that the first report of Sulphur didn't have more that 500 symptoms and that more than 50% of our pathogenesies do not come near this amount.
I will briefly report five clinical cases and they will demonstrate the action of this remedy which should be considered like a polychrest, - which was expected taking into account its important function in the - hormonal system of the pituitary gland.
Case no one
Woman of 27 years of age, with secondary sterility since four years; she had a spontaneous abortion of thirteen weeks, - indicating a low level of chorionic gonadotrophins. This pregnancy was accomplished with allopathic treatment, Chlomiphen Citrate, which is - used for ovulation.
She presents a hysterosalpingography indicating a bicorn uterus. - An ultrasonic study indicated small cysts on the right ovary and another a year and a half later, both ovaries were enlarged and policyst.
Based on the totality of the symptoms especially the gynecological ones and the characteristical reaction to the current metal earrings, - Hypophysinum anterioris was prescribed; five doses, one before every - meal, from one up to five globules progressively increased.
Twenty days afterwards, she returned indicating that her bad character of all of her life, anger from contradictions, had changed and that she felt very relaxed and tranquil. Her basal temperature ascended from 36.8 C to 37.2 C.
The physical symptoms, especially the gynecological ones, which are not possible to relate, but they improved progressively.
Ninety days after the treatment was initiated, she was pregnant - giving natural birth to a child of 3.500 Kg. in weight.
Case no two
Woman of 33 years of age, married and a housewife, with three pregnancies; two births and one spontaneous abortion.
She presents spring conjunctivitis since about a year, with a burning sensation in the eyes during the entire day, accompanied with intense itching and oedema on the eyelids.
The following key notes guided me to administer the medication: - reaction of the earlobes to current metal earrings, galactorrhoea, which did not disappear spontaneously after each pregnancy. Her mental state, screams and tits during her anger and very apprehensive are proper - symptoms of the pathogenesy, as well as the ocular symptoms and those related with the menses.
At the term of 10 days, the conjunctivitis had a notable improvement and before a lapse of 60 days, the patient was given a favorable medical discharge.
She was administered with a treatment of five doses of a 30 centesimal potency, taking from one up to five globules before every meal, three times a day.
Case no three
Man of 21 years of age, who comes to his appointment with the following symptoms:
Mental State: He begins anything with lot of courage then loses interest. Everything he does comes out wrong. He has difficulty in thinking and comprehending, nit there are times that he has a very - clear mind and learns rapid, he feels bad in a crowd.
Physical State: Central scotoma since about 10 years caused by toxic amblyopia. Vertigo when he is lying down, since several years - back, cannot precise how many. Sensation of having elastic fingers, - being able to pull them out. Sleeps very much. Dreams that he falls and this wakes him up. Incoherent dreams.
He was administered Hypohysinum anterioris at a 30 centesimal potency, from one up to five globules, based on the following symptoms which are accounted for in the pathogenesy: discouraged. Difficulty in thinking and comprehending. Weak memory. Vertigo while lying down. This is to say, we have the principal mental symptom and the general ones.
The surprise was that not only those symptoms are accounted for in the pathogenesy disappeared, but also the sensation of the elastic fingers disappeared and the idea of being able to pull them out, a symptom which I have never seen in any Repertory or in any Materia Medica. The central scotoma also disappeared, which he had since 10 years, and which only two medicaments are presented in the Repertory: Carboneum sulphuratum and Tabacum.
Case no four
Woman of 38 years of age, married, a public accountant. She arrived on her appointment with a pulsating headache, accompanied with nausea three of four times a week, since 12 years. The sensation of have ear obstruction and hypo-acoustic, which improves when swallowing, from which she suffers since 12 years. Brown facial stains. Intermittent yellow leucorrhoea since 10 years. Menses which begins with dark clots. Flaking between the toes. Halitosis. She has always had greasing hair. She was administered five doses of Hypophysinum anterioris at a potency of 30 centesimal, from one up to five globules, one dose before every meal.
She returned within a month with notable improvement in the headaches, having had the pain only three times in a month and without nausea. Her easy character continued the same.
The flaking between the toes showed a slight aggravation. The menses began without clots. The remaining physical symptoms also improved.
Surprisingly she showed me a surgical keloid cicatrice 12 cm. long, which passes over the fold of the elbow which caused difficulty to the hyperextension, which now shows to be soft and elastic. This problem had not been mentioned before.
Three months later, improvement of the symptoms above-mentioned, including that of the greasy hair of which she suffered all of her life and now states an improvement of a surgical cesarean keloid cicatrice, as well as other small cicatrices, one on the upper lip and another on the forehead caused by childhood traumatisms. The cesarean was before the intervention on the fold of the elbow. The cicatrices first to improve were the more recent ones, fulfilling in the way with the so-called Hering's law.
The patient continued improving up to the total cure of the headaches, normal menstrual periods and the almost disappearance of the keloid cicatrices.
Case no five
A female teacher of 48 years of age, who has ecchymosis in her pelvic limbs, easy fatigue and weakness, blurred vision, pain above the eyebrows, paroxysmal vertigos, moscae volitants and buzzing in the ears. Legs and feet oedemas.
She has aplastic anaemia which as provoked by Malathion which is used to fumigate her garden. She has received 22 blood transfusions en nine months; this means one every to weeks, approximately.
In has been seven months that she had a hysterectomy due to functional haemorrhage and to avoid aggravation of the anaemia.
Additionally to the proper symptoms of the ailment, she also shows the following:
Mental State: Irritable caused by trifle matters, screams when angry, which is worse since she began with her ailment.
Physical State: Eruption on the skin where the metal of the watch makes contact with the skin, on her neck because of the necklaces or because of some fabrics, swolleness of the earlobes caused by current metal earrings. Hypophysinum anterioris at a potency of 30 centesimals, from one up to five globules before each meal.
Twenty days afterwards she arrives for her appointment with an improvement of the symptoms of the aplastic anaemia. She still suffers from headaches but the frequency is less as well as the duration. The noise in her ears like the sound of a cricket have diminished a 50%. Other chronic symptoms have also disappeared, which I do not have to relate at the moment.
The last transfusion was given five days before the first medical appointment.
When the aplastic anaemia was diagnosed to 7.5, and within the following twenty days, after the medication was indicated, the level increased to 8.8 without a previous transfusion.
At a term of 50 days from the first medical appointment, another five doses were administered of Hypophysinum anterioris of 30 centesimal potency, this time dilutes in water dynamizating in every dose, five teaspoons, one daily.
Almost all of the symptoms related to the aplastic anaemia continue to improve, even though the haemoglobin level descended from 8.8 to 7 mg.%, she feels more tired, but she is eating well. Her bowel movements are normal.
At the hospital where she is under medical control, they did not have to give her a new transfusion, due to the fact that young cells appeared, indicating mieloblastic activity.
Four months after the treatment was initiated, she arrives for her medical appointments with less tiredness, the aplastic anaemia symptoms continue to improve, such as: blurred vision, headaches, dizziness, moscae volitants, noises in the ears. The oedemas on the legs and feet show a progressive remission and the haemoglobin level increased to 10 gr.%.
The Hypophysinum anterioris prescription was made taking into account the totality of the symptoms, and not only the reaction to the current metal earrings. Although her character has been the same all of her life, the mental state of the patient was also taken into account.
In January of 1988, it has been four months since she received her last blood transfusion. The haemoglobin level was maintained at 12 gr.%. Her general state is very satisfactory and she returned to her occupation as a teacher in a primary school. Before the homoeopathic treatment, she was diagnosed as incurable, with an unfavorable prognosis for a life span of six months. Officially, she should have die eleven months ago.
Abstract
This pathogenesy was initiated in March 1981, today we have 766 symptoms. First clinical case related is a secondary sterility since four years; she was pregnant after ninety days. Fourth clinical case, a woman, 38 years of age with headache pains since 12 years; she was cured from it and what was more amazing, some keloid cicatrices were almost disappearing. Last clinical case showed, a woman with aplastic anaemia caused by malathion insecticide; she had a bad prognosis, with only six months of life and was receiving blood transfusion every two weeks, and then the haemoglobin level was ascending from 3.4 gr.% to 7.5 gr.%. With the Homoeopathy the level was ascending to 8.8 gr.% and afterwards up to 12 gr.% without blood transfusions. She is an elemental school teacher and today is working again. Against official prognosis, she has survived thirteen months until January 1988. All five clinical cases were administered five doses, from one globule up to five globules before eating, three time a day, at 30 centesimal potency.

Unpaired compound gland suspended from the base of the hypothalamus, and consisting of two major subdivisions: the neurohypophysis [posterior lobe] and the adenohypophysis [anterior lobe]. The gland was once thought to produce mucus, hence the name pituitary [pituita = phlegm].
"The pituitary is the gland of many hormones and functions. It controls growth in childhood and adolescence, sexual development and sexual metabolism. It is necessary for proper evolution of the reproductive glands. The post-pituitary regulates the water balance of the body, blood pressure, gastrointestinal tract, and influences the fatty and sugar metabolism. It also determines the pigmentation of the skin. There is more vitamin E found in the pituitary than in any other gland. A deficiency of vitamin B castrates it physiologically and psychologically. It is as important for the pituitary as is vitamin E for the testes and placenta. Normal functioning of the pituitary involves the metabolism of manganese. Manganese foods prevent pituitary strain. These include potatoes, lettuce, agar-agar, wheat germ, liver, peanuts, walnuts and almonds ... The pituitary controls the growth and form of the skeleton. Proved by P. Sankaran in the Bombay Homoeopathic Medical College on two occasions, once in 1965 and again in 1967 by two different sets of provers. The 3x and 30th potencies of the whole gland were used. Nine provers participated in all, two of them were given sac lac as controls.

Adenohypophysis. Anterior lobe of hypophysis.
Consists of cords of cells of several different types interspersed with capillaries. The secretion of somatotropins, prolactin, thyroid-stimulating hormone, gonadotropins, adrenal corticotropin is regulated by releasing and inhibiting factors elaborated by neurons in the hypothalamus.
Pathological symptoms of the anterior lobe of the hypophysis rarely occur in humans. Very occasionally, a swelling or growth may develop which can lead in young patients to giantism and in the elderly to visual disturbances and hormone deficiencies [Simmonds' disease]. These symptoms can occur in women after a complicated confinement with major loss of blood and shock. The pituitary necrosis is then caused by ischemia.
In humans, the middle lobe of the hypophysis is poorly developed. This lobe, which is closely connected to the anterior lobe, produces a hormone whose function is only known for lower vertebrates, i.e. blending with the background colour [chameleon].
In occult physiology, it is believed that the pineal gland and the hypophysis function as the two sentries at the threshold. These two sentries, which stem from ancient esoteric tradition, work closely as catalysts in the process of acquiring spiritual consciousness in the material world. It is said of the hypophysis that its duality is inherent in the duality of the human being. In the posterior lobe, hormones are produced after information has been transferred via nerve fibres [male aspect]. In the anterior lobe, this occurs by means of the blood [female aspect]. It is believed that this duality is not expressed in the pineal gland because the hypophysis has a special link with the material world, and the duality that material evokes brings about the contrast between male and female. The moderately developed middle section is compared to the golden mean, the ability to adapt to circumstances, which is the great talent of the chameleon - a characteristic which is often seen in a negative light.

Neurohypophysis. Posterior lobe of hypophysis.
Releases the neurosecretory hormones oxytocin and antidiuretic hormone. Oxytocin is produced in the hypothalamus and then transported to the neurohypophysis, where it is stored. It causes uterine contractions at term and promotes milk release during lactation. Medically used for the induction or stimulation of labour, in the treatment of postpartum haemorrhage and atony, and to relieve painful breast engorgement. In males oxytocin stimulates the secretory ducts of the testicles.
Antidiuretic hormone, or vasopressin, is also produced in the hypothalamus and then stored in the neurohypophysis. It promotes the reabsorption of water in the kidneys [= antidiuresis], raises the blood pressure and plays a role in the water balance and production of milk. It also stimulates the storage and recall of information in memory. It narrows the arteries of the abdominal organs and is therefore used to stem haemorrhage involving abdominal blood vessels. Large doses may produce cerebral or coronary arterial spasm.
Injury of the neurohypophysis gives rise to the symptomatology of diabetes insipidus. Proved by Hering Proving Committee in 1935 on 5 subjects with 12 DH.

The pathogenesy of this remedy was initiated in March of 1981, and its experimentation was clinical. In the beginning it was indicated - by the following key symptoms: Reaction to current metal earrings, - galactorrhoea, menses disturbances and periodical symptoms that coincided with the menstruation.
It was administered for the first time in the case of a rebellious galactorrhoea, when first treated with allopathic medication and afterwards with homoeopathic treatment; fruitfully, I observed the disappearance of the inflammatory reaction to the current metal earrings and a correction to old menses disturbances, which had only progressed to a better stage but not cured with the remedies best selected.
With only these symptoms there commenced an indication of a remedy and I also observed the disappearance of other ailments. When the - symptoms which was disappearing was a chronic and clear one, and not a cyclical one with a history of spontaneous disappearance, note of this was indicated in the protocol of clinical experimentation. In this manner, by September of 1986, five and half years later, there were - more than 500 symptoms. Actually, seven years later, the pathogenesy - now has 766 symptoms, which is remarkable, having in mind that the first report of Sulphur didn't have more that 500 symptoms and that more than 50% of our pathogenesies do not come near this amount.
I will briefly report five clinical cases and they will demonstrate the action of this remedy which should be considered like a polychrest, - which was expected taking into account its important function in the - hormonal system of the pituitary gland.
Case no one
Woman of 27 years of age, with secondary sterility since four years; she had a spontaneous abortion of thirteen weeks, - indicating a low level of chorionic gonadotrophins. This pregnancy was accomplished with allopathic treatment, Chlomiphen Citrate, which is - used for ovulation.
She presents a hysterosalpingography indicating a bicorn uterus. - An ultrasonic study indicated small cysts on the right ovary and another a year and a half later, both ovaries were enlarged and policyst.
Based on the totality of the symptoms especially the gynecological ones and the characteristical reaction to the current metal earrings, - Hypophysinum anterioris was prescribed; five doses, one before every - meal, from one up to five globules progressively increased.
Twenty days afterwards, she returned indicating that her bad character of all of her life, anger from contradictions, had changed and that she felt very relaxed and tranquil. Her basal temperature ascended from 36.8 C to 37.2 C.
The physical symptoms, especially the gynecological ones, which are not possible to relate, but they improved progressively.
Ninety days after the treatment was initiated, she was pregnant - giving natural birth to a child of 3.500 Kg. in weight.
Case no two
Woman of 33 years of age, married and a housewife, with three pregnancies; two births and one spontaneous abortion.
She presents spring conjunctivitis since about a year, with a burning sensation in the eyes during the entire day, accompanied with intense itching and oedema on the eyelids.
The following key notes guided me to administer the medication: - reaction of the earlobes to current metal earrings, galactorrhoea, which did not disappear spontaneously after each pregnancy. Her mental state, screams and tits during her anger and very apprehensive are proper - symptoms of the pathogenesy, as well as the ocular symptoms and those related with the menses.
At the term of 10 days, the conjunctivitis had a notable improvement and before a lapse of 60 days, the patient was given a favorable medical discharge.
She was administered with a treatment of five doses of a 30 centesimal potency, taking from one up to five globules before every meal, three times a day.
Case no three
Man of 21 years of age, who comes to his appointment with the following symptoms:
Mental State: He begins anything with lot of courage then loses interest. Everything he does comes out wrong. He has difficulty in thinking and comprehending, nit there are times that he has a very - clear mind and learns rapid, he feels bad in a crowd.
Physical State: Central scotoma since about 10 years caused by toxic amblyopia. Vertigo when he is lying down, since several years - back, cannot precise how many. Sensation of having elastic fingers, - being able to pull them out. Sleeps very much. Dreams that he falls and this wakes him up. Incoherent dreams.
He was administered Hypohysinum anterioris at a 30 centesimal potency, from one up to five globules, based on the following symptoms which are accounted for in the pathogenesy: discouraged. Difficulty in thinking and comprehending. Weak memory. Vertigo while lying down. This is to say, we have the principal mental symptom and the general ones.
The surprise was that not only those symptoms are accounted for in the pathogenesy disappeared, but also the sensation of the elastic fingers disappeared and the idea of being able to pull them out, a symptom which I have never seen in any Repertory or in any Materia Medica. The central scotoma also disappeared, which he had since 10 years, and which only two medicaments are presented in the Repertory: Carboneum sulphuratum and Tabacum.
Case no four
Woman of 38 years of age, married, a public accountant. She arrived on her appointment with a pulsating headache, accompanied with nausea three of four times a week, since 12 years. The sensation of have ear obstruction and hypo-acoustic, which improves when swallowing, from which she suffers since 12 years. Brown facial stains. Intermittent yellow leucorrhoea since 10 years. Menses which begins with dark clots. Flaking between the toes. Halitosis. She has always had greasing hair. She was administered five doses of Hypophysinum anterioris at a potency of 30 centesimal, from one up to five globules, one dose before every meal.
She returned within a month with notable improvement in the headaches, having had the pain only three times in a month and without nausea. Her easy character continued the same.
The flaking between the toes showed a slight aggravation. The menses began without clots. The remaining physical symptoms also improved.
Surprisingly she showed me a surgical keloid cicatrice 12 cm. long, which passes over the fold of the elbow which caused difficulty to the hyperextension, which now shows to be soft and elastic. This problem had not been mentioned before.
Three months later, improvement of the symptoms above-mentioned, including that of the greasy hair of which she suffered all of her life and now states an improvement of a surgical cesarean keloid cicatrice, as well as other small cicatrices, one on the upper lip and another on the forehead caused by childhood traumatisms. The cesarean was before the intervention on the fold of the elbow. The cicatrices first to improve were the more recent ones, fulfilling in the way with the so-called Hering's law.
The patient continued improving up to the total cure of the headaches, normal menstrual periods and the almost disappearance of the keloid cicatrices.
Case no five
A female teacher of 48 years of age, who has ecchymosis in her pelvic limbs, easy fatigue and weakness, blurred vision, pain above the eyebrows, paroxysmal vertigos, moscae volitants and buzzing in the ears. Legs and feet oedemas.
She has aplastic anaemia which as provoked by Malathion which is used to fumigate her garden. She has received 22 blood transfusions en nine months; this means one every to weeks, approximately.
In has been seven months that she had a hysterectomy due to functional haemorrhage and to avoid aggravation of the anaemia.
Additionally to the proper symptoms of the ailment, she also shows the following:
Mental State: Irritable caused by trifle matters, screams when angry, which is worse since she began with her ailment.
Physical State: Eruption on the skin where the metal of the watch makes contact with the skin, on her neck because of the necklaces or because of some fabrics, swolleness of the earlobes caused by current metal earrings. Hypophysinum anterioris at a potency of 30 centesimals, from one up to five globules before each meal.
Twenty days afterwards she arrives for her appointment with an improvement of the symptoms of the aplastic anaemia. She still suffers from headaches but the frequency is less as well as the duration. The noise in her ears like the sound of a cricket have diminished a 50%. Other chronic symptoms have also disappeared, which I do not have to relate at the moment.
The last transfusion was given five days before the first medical appointment.
When the aplastic anaemia was diagnosed to 7.5, and within the following twenty days, after the medication was indicated, the level increased to 8.8 without a previous transfusion.
At a term of 50 days from the first medical appointment, another five doses were administered of Hypophysinum anterioris of 30 centesimal potency, this time dilutes in water dynamizating in every dose, five teaspoons, one daily.
Almost all of the symptoms related to the aplastic anaemia continue to improve, even though the haemoglobin level descended from 8.8 to 7 mg.%, she feels more tired, but she is eating well. Her bowel movements are normal.
At the hospital where she is under medical control, they did not have to give her a new transfusion, due to the fact that young cells appeared, indicating mieloblastic activity.
Four months after the treatment was initiated, she arrives for her medical appointments with less tiredness, the aplastic anaemia symptoms continue to improve, such as: blurred vision, headaches, dizziness, moscae volitants, noises in the ears. The oedemas on the legs and feet show a progressive remission and the haemoglobin level increased to 10 gr.%.
The Hypophysinum anterioris prescription was made taking into account the totality of the symptoms, and not only the reaction to the current metal earrings. Although her character has been the same all of her life, the mental state of the patient was also taken into account.
In January of 1988, it has been four months since she received her last blood transfusion. The haemoglobin level was maintained at 12 gr.%. Her general state is very satisfactory and she returned to her occupation as a teacher in a primary school. Before the homoeopathic treatment, she was diagnosed as incurable, with an unfavorable prognosis for a life span of six months. Officially, she should have die eleven months ago.
Abstract
This pathogenesy was initiated in March 1981, today we have 766 symptoms. First clinical case related is a secondary sterility since four years; she was pregnant after ninety days. Second clinical case, is a female with spring conjunctivitis, she had suffered from this since one year; was cured in sixty days. Third clinical case, a man of 21 years of age with difficult in thinking and comprehending, with a central scotoma since ten years because of toxic amblyopia, and a new symptom was reported: the sensation as if that of having elastic fingers and could pull them out. He was cure from scotoma and mental symptoms. Fourth clinical case, a woman, 38 years of age with headache pains since 12 years; she was cured from it and what was more amazing, some keloid cicatrices were almost disappearing. Last clinical case showed, a woman with aplastic anaemia caused by malathion insecticide; she had a bad prognosis, with only six months of life and was receiving blood transfusion every two weeks, and then the haemoglobin level was ascending from 3.4 gr.% to 7.5 gr.%. With the Homoeopathy the level was ascending to 8.8 gr.% and afterwards up to 12 gr.% without blood transfusions. She is an elemental school teacher and today is working again. Against official prognosis, she has survived thirteen months until January 1988. All five clinical cases were administered five doses, from one globule up to five globules before eating, three time a day, at 30 centesimal potency.

Unpaired compound gland suspended from the base of the hypothalamus, and consisting of two major subdivisions: the neurohypophysis [posterior lobe] and the adenohypophysis [anterior lobe]. The gland was once thought to produce mucus, hence the name pituitary [pituita = phlegm].
"The pituitary is the gland of many hormones and functions. It controls growth in childhood and adolescence, sexual development and sexual metabolism. It is necessary for proper evolution of the reproductive glands. The post-pituitary regulates the water balance of the body, blood pressure, gastrointestinal tract, and influences the fatty and sugar metabolism. It also determines the pigmentation of the skin. There is more vitamin E found in the pituitary than in any other gland. A deficiency of vitamin B castrates it physiologically and psychologically. It is as important for the pituitary as is vitamin E for the testes and placenta. Normal functioning of the pituitary involves the metabolism of manganese. Manganese foods prevent pituitary strain. These include potatoes, lettuce, agar-agar, wheat germ, liver, peanuts, walnuts and almonds ... The pituitary controls the growth and form of the skeleton. Proved by P. Sankaran in the Bombay Homoeopathic Medical College on two occasions, once in 1965 and again in 1967 by two different sets of provers. The 3x and 30th potencies of the whole gland were used. Nine provers participated in all, two of them were given sac lac as controls.

Adenohypophysis. Anterior lobe of hypophysis.
Consists of cords of cells of several different types interspersed with capillaries. The secretion of somatotropins, prolactin, thyroid-stimulating hormone, gonadotropins, adrenal corticotropin is regulated by releasing and inhibiting factors elaborated by neurons in the hypothalamus.
Pathological symptoms of the anterior lobe of the hypophysis rarely occur in humans. Very occasionally, a swelling or growth may develop which can lead in young patients to giantism and in the elderly to visual disturbances and hormone deficiencies [Simmonds' disease]. These symptoms can occur in women after a complicated confinement with major loss of blood and shock. The pituitary necrosis is then caused by ischemia.
In humans, the middle lobe of the hypophysis is poorly developed. This lobe, which is closely connected to the anterior lobe, produces a hormone whose function is only known for lower vertebrates, i.e. blending with the background colour [chameleon].
In occult physiology, it is believed that the pineal gland and the hypophysis function as the two sentries at the threshold. These two sentries, which stem from ancient esoteric tradition, work closely as catalysts in the process of acquiring spiritual consciousness in the material world. It is said of the hypophysis that its duality is inherent in the duality of the human being. In the posterior lobe, hormones are produced after information has been transferred via nerve fibres [male aspect]. In the anterior lobe, this occurs by means of the blood [female aspect]. It is believed that this duality is not expressed in the pineal gland because the hypophysis has a special link with the material world, and the duality that material evokes brings about the contrast between male and female. The moderately developed middle section is compared to the golden mean, the ability to adapt to circumstances, which is the great talent of the chameleon - a characteristic which is often seen in a negative light.

Releases the neurosecretory hormones oxytocin and antidiuretic hormone. Oxytocin is produced in the hypothalamus and then transported to the neurohypophysis, where it is stored. It causes uterine contractions at term and promotes milk release during lactation. Medically used for the induction or stimulation of labour, in the treatment of postpartum haemorrhage and atony, and to relieve painful breast engorgement. In males oxytocin stimulates the secretory ducts of the testicles.
Antidiuretic hormone, or vasopressin, is also produced in the hypothalamus and then stored in the neurohypophysis. It promotes the reabsorption of water in the kidneys [= antidiuresis], raises the blood pressure and plays a role in the water balance and production of milk. It also stimulates the storage and recall of information in memory. It narrows the arteries of the abdominal organs and is therefore used to stem haemorrhage involving abdominal blood vessels. Large doses may produce cerebral or coronary arterial spasm.
Injury of the neurohypophysis gives rise to the symptomatology of diabetes insipidus. Proved by Hering Proving Committee in 1935 on 5 subjects with 12 DH.

I did with one person, because she had been told that various symptoms
of hers indicated low pituitary function, and had benefitted at that
time from pituitary "concentrate" (freeze-dried organ, I think?). And,
of course, she had lots and lots of the symptoms listed for the
remedy--tho I do not now remember details. I gave her pituitary
anterior, which did help, but the effect began to diminiish in a few
weeks, and I didn't find the response "exciting" enough, so moved on to
the other "indicated remedy", which was Med (which I was
less-than-excited about as well, since she'd had multiple doses of it
in the past--but it did help her again, and more deeply and lastingly
than pitu-a had). I read somewhere that Med and Pitu-a share a sphere
of function, and wish I remembered where I read that--but I think that
was about all that was said.
I've been *trying* to find the IFH presentation on pitu-a, but haven't
been able to turn it up yet (rats!). It's in one of the seven or so
IFH case books from the early '90s, under a title that does not "give
away the secret" (nothing so tidy as, "Three cases of Pitu-a",
sigh...). But hopefully I will find it eventually...
I remember that one of the things these cases had in common, which was

OA Julian repertory has quite a few useful provings/studies:
ACTH, Cortison, Corticoids, Folliculinum, Hypothalamus, Thyroidinum etc
Also some drugs like penicillium, phenobarbitol, reserpine,
sulfanilamide, X-ray, etc
(131 remedeis in this Materia Medica)
I found it useful for example to compare the proving/MM for ACTH with
that for cortisol.
MOST of the ACTH symptoms are also common to coritsol - not surprising
as ACTH stimulates cortisol. But there are about 8 clearly different
symptoms that will differentiate between the two.
There are also pathologies where there is cortisol (from tumours)
without ACTH - making the cortisol proving very useful.
The provings/MMs actually provide a way to differentiate source of
pathology IMO - showing whether a cushing's syndrome individual has high
ACTH (pointing to pituitary tumour or extopic oat cell tumour)
OR
high cortisol alone (pointing to adrenal tumour/hyperplasia OR carcinoid
tumour).
Allopaths go to a LOT of trouble with dangerous drugs and dangerous
procedures (sinus samplings of pituitary area etc) and tests to
differentiate ACTH versus cortisol origin pathology. Yet there are 8
clear symptoms that will do it conveniently in homeopathy, no tests
needed!.... if only more use were made of the wonderful information in
our repertories:-)))
I happen to run a cushings-syndrome list and the differentials from
homeopathy predict the pathological *source* of the problem well:-)
Of course we homeopaths want the real source *before* the pathology -
but the pathology source is also useful to know.
