Hi Theresa,

As far as the Hom hospital petition is concerned - yes it's only for residents or citizens of the UK - can be expats living anywhere - but it is unfortunately restricted. I think the same probably applies to the Australian petition too - I just went to sign up myself. Makes sense (from their POV) that a petition to a particular govt should be collected from the people in that country.

I sent mine out to the list in case anyone knew Brits living abroad who could sign it - or people in Britain who could then send it to all their friends!

I understand anyone can sign it. It's taken days to get 100 signatures.
I did a bit of an explore around the e-petition website. Over 1000 have signed one calling for an American Idol contestant to be booted off the show.
Doesn't make sense to me.

i would think your portugese donator understands the impact of the Codex legislation and
the Pharmaceutical corporate hand in it. it seems to me that every case, world wide, is
another one to watch carefully to see how the public reacts. i am beginning to get info
that the Codex requires each and every country to adopt it and many countries have
individual state's rights type processes. it is also a known tactic to create small fights
to test and strain the public, wear them down, and begin to create a climate for acceptance.
what is happening in australia is just one of those test spots. i sincerely hope the
australian public and medical profession find their voice on this.
i would certainly sign a petition for australia based on the globalization and HARMonization
of medicine that is an ongoing battle at the moment.
