Hello all,
here's another point of view.
Ayurveda is 5,000-year-old Indian natural healing system. According to Ayurveda a living creature is composed of soul, mind and body.
Dr. Akhilesh Sharma is an ayurvedic doctor in India, and I attended his lecture a couple of years ago. Dr. Sharma said, that ayurveda is the oldest healing system in the world. He said, that Chinese medicine is approximately 2 500 years old and is based on ayurveda. According to him, homeopathy is also based on ayurveda. Modern medicine/allopathy has also borrowed quite a lot from ayurveda (surgery, plastic surgery techniques etc).

We Indians are always proud about our heritage and claim that
everything originated with us
Which may be true or false. There
have been old and effective civilizations before us as well.
Just let us say that Ayurveda is old. There is another system of
medicine called Siddha in South India which is considered even more
effective though almost slowly dying or diluted now. Both of them are
still practised now. 2 years back I posted some material on Siddha
practices which you can say also uses Homeopathic principles.
Homeopathy as a separate medical system stands on its own. But the
"like cures like" principle has been used by lots of cultures (
including chinese medicine) and includes Ayurveda. But Ayurveda mixes
a minimum of 25 medicines in each prescription and works based on an
entirely different philosophy- it is a totally different ball game
altogether.
In Siddha ( and to a certain extent in Ayurveda) there are powerful
medicines called Bhasmas and Chenduras. They are mixtures of metals
and minerals mostly burned to oxides / calcides etc. They are
repeatedly put under this burning process each time the ash diluted
with different kinds of herbal juices. The more times they are diluted
and burnt the more potent they are considered ( reminds us of
potentization - right). And they are given in very very minute
quantities. They are given with different vehicles ( with milk or
honey or some specific juice) for different disease conditions. It is
almost smilar to French Homeopathy with their drainage and organ
specific action or whatver. The vehicles provide the drainage while
the bhasma provides the power. There is a medicine called Van mezhugu
in Siddha that is considered effective against all diseases of man
kind - just give it with different vehicles.
It is also significant that there is a saying that says that medicines
should never be given more than 3 days.
