Actually it *is* one of the stated list guidelines that we stick mainly
to h'y...
Altho i personally am enjoying this particular diversion (I was ready
for a diversion!) it is true that too much "diversion" can become a
huge "dilution".
As for the drop-off on TOL, I've been thinking about that...
This list and that had been so very similar--even a huge overlap in
participating membership--then this one got a bit of an edge from a few
contributors (Ardavan's not the least!), and it became easier to send
to one list rather than both.
And (I've been further thinking) again recently we are seeing a
difference in aims and preferences as to how the list should "lean".
Wouldn't it make sense to have the different lists differentiate
themselves a bit more consciously and concisely? E.g. one could become
"classical only" (as some have asked for), while another could be
"classical and not-too-far to the left", etc.? Some of the smaller
lists are more differentiated just because of who's there, but Minutus
and Homeolist (Lyghtforce) have--so far as I've seen--been by far the
biggest and busiest, and just had too much overlap to sustain
themselves as a pair???
Also, it seemed to me that Homeolist was getting too high a
concentration of "What can I take for Syndrome Q" questions, which I
think also was not helpful to the list overall. But they've still got
the membership, presumably, and there are (presumably still) some good
folks who are *not* on this list as well...

Hi Shannon, List,
I do not think that cat/dog nutrition is OT to homeopathy - or if it
is, I do not understand why homeopaths so often take off on the need
of proper nutrition when "educting" their patients;-)
And as as far as veterinary homeopathy/nutrition is concernd, it is
IMO very valuable to discussions on any homeopathy list.
Why??
'cause with cats and dogs other relatively short-lived species one can
follow-up over the generations - as Irene did.
If such follow up cannot give possibly valuable insights into the
question of such things as "inherited miasms", influence of nutrition
on such miasms etc, I do not know what can!
Regards
Luise

Re: re off-topic posts, and lists...
Hi Shannon,
The drop-off started after people like Joe de Livera (probably wrong
spelling) were mobbed off the list by the self-appointed guardians of
homeopathic purity.
Would be a good idea but hard to put into practice. These leanings
come and go in natural cycles - if left alone.
So what happened?
First the questions still came on. They were answered by pm - which
means that for really unreasonable suggestions there was no-one to
contradict. Did that help the ones asking for help? Did that help
homeopathy?
Then the people reading no longer saw replies to questions for help,
so they no longer asked.
Did that mean they went to a "classical homeopath" instead? Much more
likely they ask on lists where the people replying will have little
knowledge of homeopathy.
Does that help the people needing help? Does that help homeopathy?
Now the list is barren. Whom does that help?
Yes, I am quite resentful, you may call it nostalgia. Just as you I
remember "Lyghtforce" in its heyday, before the various groups -
always changing, but doing equal damage - succeeded in chasing people
off or keeping them from posting.
After that, their job completeted, they stopped posting also - matter
of fact most of them never contributed much except brandishing raised
forefingers, sending abusive pm's and attacking other people for
having different opinions on-list!
But obviously they do not post - and since there are few posts, they
obviously do not read;-)
Membership does not mean much.
In Germany there are 2 lists - on one of them there will be a few
posts every few months - but it still has quite few members. I do not
know what made it happen - I was not on the German lists at that time.
I do not think that Minutus made homeolist drop off. Not to such an
extent, anyway. For quite a long time after Minutus started, homeolist
was still quite well-frequented.

Re: re off-topic posts, and lists...
luise,
please,it's not the end of the world to me to 'delete', but there is another dynamic that is somehow occurring.
there have been almost no topics posted regarding homeopathy as this OT has held sway.
perhaps this is where the list is comfortable, right now. If so, so be it.

Re: re off-topic posts, and lists...
I agree with you- It has been raining cats and dogs for a while now
and very few humans-
As long as the discussion helps a general clarification of homeopathic
treatment issues or a discussion of homeopathic therapeutics of animal
ailments, that is ok. Otherwise I am least concerned if the cat eats
rats raw or in a soup or barbecued...
Just mentioning something off-topic does not mean that we should run a
parallel Off topic discussion group-

Re: re off-topic posts, and lists...
Hi Bonnie,
Surely not for lack of space to do so?:-)
So, why don't you start an interesting thread regarding homeopathy? I
am trying to do so - see my mail to Soroush.
We have a German saying: "Self is the man (or woman):-)
I am sure there are lots of topics you can think of that you can
present to the list for discussion!
After your post and your topic I am sure it will be even more so.
