rubric/mm help?

[VR VR]

Two symptoms:
Dread of being average - what would be repertory expression for this?
Patient has discomfort on both feet, mainly on soles, if she doesn't drink. Discomfort to the extent that she cannot sleep. If she drinks, the discomfort goes within 30-60 minutes. Any ideas?

With the foot discomfort, you'd probably need more details to establish a
rubric. It would be useful to understand what's going on. For instance,
does the person get up and have a drink when she can't sleep? That would
re-establish circulation in the feet, and shed some light on what the actual
phenomenon is. Does it matter what she drinks (substance, temperature,
quantity, etc...)? Does temperature, position, activity, or any other
modality than drinking influence her foot pain?

I was wondering, what is it *about* "being average" that she dreads?
Is it about how others feel about her, or about she feels about herself?
Ask for her to give her images about "average people"--what they do,
what they look like, or ??? Maybe she feels that if she's "average"
then there's nothing special about her and no one will (?)like her, or
take her seriously, or ?? Curious!

That would depend - wouldn't it?

Does she consider herself above average?

Then it would be rubris like haughty etc.

Does she strive not to be average?

Then it might be ambitious etc.

Does she feel average and does not like it?

Then I would consider: feels inferior. Also perhaps introspective.

She swings between feeling she is above the mob to feeling she is not worthy of mob membership! Self definition is hazy although part of the process she's going through is clarifying identity step by step even if it involves moving away from the known.
