Mobile phone
This proving was made only on females - hence there is no male
chapter at all and I also suspect there would be additional and/or
other mind symptoms with male provers.

I came to think about this because my last case is a male and sepia
comes out most high in the repertorizing. I have been taught that
the only few cases of males needing sepia are those where the
causation is some crush to the head, for example if in an accident
the head was mechanically squeezed between two hard surfaces. Also
when looking at the various MM sources, one is discouraged to
prescribe this remedy to a male patient.

The abovementioned case is about trigeminal neuralgia and chronic
sinusitis which begun together after an operation in the coccyx area
(removal of some tumor) some 4 years ago.

Any comments on any of the above subjects – most welcome…

Thank you so much for this encouraging. I will reconsider the case
if the spig. which I prescribed will fail to act. It's regretable
that I did not ask the list before prescribing - as I was so hurried
to relieve the patient from those terrible pains. This is an
additional practical lesson for me...

In Hahnemann's MM of CD there is one page of symptoms specific to
males, two pages for female. In Herning's Guuiding Symptoms the
"Female Sexual Organ" section has increased to 6 pages, but there is
still 1 page of male. In Boericke, Phatak, Nash Sepia is also
mentioned for ailments of male organs respectively specific only to
males.

Seing that there is a lot of effectiveness and symptoms even for
specifically male problems, it would be hard to believe that it is
nopt effective for non-specific ailments/conditions of both sexes.

Perhaps your teacher was not quite up to the mark in this question?

Constitutional type wise - I see male Pulsatillas, female Nux-v's and
male Sepias for example, among the animals in my practice... and
likewise in their need for simillimum.

I think a gender prejudice in remedies is a bad thing - and we should
rather use the remedies all as indicated in repertorizing.

That's right, I was rereading yesterday evening on sepia – much
slower than I usually do for a `well known' remedy and found all
those examples in the more basic and less summarizing books. To my
surprise, I also found out what Vera mentions later in this digest –
that actually "The idea of proving Sepia dawned on Hahnemann on
having found a complex lot of symptoms in a friend of his, an
artist, who was in the habit of wetting *his* brush containing
Indian ink with *his* saliva". Well, I must confess that I almost
never read the first paragraphs which deal with details about the
crude source of the remedy and stories that lead to its proving.
Instead, I scroll down quickly to the symptoms and read only the
sections relevant to the case in hand…
