Ideas re sugar craving

Post by DCR »

Working with lady in mid 50s. Currently she is doing very well. I have only used homeopathic remedies with her to get acute allergy symptoms under control (worked well - she is now off all meds) and have begun dietary changes. She is fine with the idea of making better food choices, excercise, yoga etc. and making good progress. All is going very well with one exception. She reports extreme cravings for sugar. They are not constant, but she reports they are overwhelming, and she does not remember ever having cravings like this before. Original plan was to wait until she was off all meds for a while before properly 'taking the case'. No idea yet if this is a new symptom or simply a transitional phase for her. I've never considered a food craving as an acute before - and was curious if anyone had perspective on this problem.
Thank you in advance.

Maybe having more protein, or making sure to have some in the morning
and regularly thru the day, would help stabilize her blood sugar and
lessen the cravings?

i did some work with amino acid therapy which worked terrifically well.
i read this book Diet Cure by Julia Ross. she lays out the impact of
specific amino acids relative to cravings and how to use them. very
readable book. L-glutamine was a big one with sugar, but you may
want to get a copy of the book for a broader understanding.

I would also weigh the allergy symptoms in context with her life
events, situation etc. Is the craving substituting for the allergy
symptoms in some way in her life?

Has she already changed her diet etc?

Otherwise if the craving persists without any big modification of
her previous diet, there is more happening here than meets the eye...
