Re: Potency and Dose (message #14; Digest #272)

Dear Ahmad,

I have been using 1 oz. bottles (per information from David Little
regarding what Hahnemann published for a drop dose method in the preface
to the 1837 Paris edition of The Chronic Diseases). I have found it
more convenient regarding C potencies when there is need for more doses
per day. One oz dropper bottles are inexpensive when buying by bulk and
can be reused when sterilized if desired. I use one # 10 pellet,
distilled water and 15 drops of clear alcohol or glycerin for those not
desiring alcohol (Hahnemann used 1/2 water and 1/2 brandy). Succussions
of 1-12 times depending on sensitivity and then 1,2,3 or higher drops
into a small paper cup with 3 to 21 teaspoons of spring filtered or
distilled water. From this dilution cup, 1-3 teaspoons are given as a
dose. I have found that draining the dropper prior to succussions seems
to allow for the remedy solution to more evenly receive the succussions.
If the remedy is to be used for one day I will not use a preservative
but I do for many situations where the c potency maybe used for more
than one day (and especially if it is not being refrigerated and carried
around). Since the potency is increased with the succusions I start with
a new solution for each case. With LMs the 8 oz bottle seems to be
convenient since there is usually less dosages and the succussions allow
for the needed gradual increase in potency. My patients have reported
"floating particles" after a short time (three weeks or so) with LMs not
preserved and even refrigerated, although I can't speak definitively
regarding that since most people did not mind using glycerin where
alcohol is not desired.

Sincerely,

Ken

Hi all,

I'd like to interject a question and forgive me if it's silly. But I don't
understand how and why the alcohol or glycerin doesn't become potentized
along with the remedy you'd like to have potentized.
Could someone clarify this point to me??

Regards,

Lisa

You can potentise Ethanol (spirit of wine) - in fact it is the remedy
Alcoholus.

However, it seems that when other tinctures/substances are added to it, its
own effects are masked and do not come through.
