Missing joint?

I'm getting ready to look at an "interesting" case, of which one
"interesting" part is this:
Her little finger is missing the knuckle of the left little finger,
which makes that one quite substantially shorter (half inch?) than the
other. (This is an "extended family" member, and I had never noticed
until she showed me; but once you are looking right at it, it is
obvious.)

I would offer that if the joint/knuckle had decayed through disease
then most definitely more syphilitic but as it seems to be a 'defect',
i.e. not grown then perhaps more tubercular and although I cannot offer
a specific rubric I would suggest something along the lines of
'development, delayed/arrested, bones' - the calcs, the calc phos, sil,
calc fluor etc range of rx. My youngest son has tiny little fingers and
he is very tubercular and do you know I've never checked to see if a
knuckle is missing - will do

Might also be the tub miasm. SK Bannerjee says them as congenital
malformations such as irregular teeth, six fingers etc. Still,
according to one school tub is the birthchild of psoric and
syphilitic miasm. But, unless all the symptms of tubercular miasm
are expressed, the question itself is of a 'wait to see later' type.

But, the possibility of it showing itself will not be far if the
present similimum is found.
