Heat lumps, and Ipecac

Have any of you heard of using Ipecac for 'heat lumps'
What I call heat lumps are raised itchy lumps that appear in hot weather.
Often thought to be insect bites, but IMO just a reaction to heat.
Someone told me that as a girl she was given Fennings little healers, which
cleared these up like magic.
I found that these contain small material doses of Ipecac, and were actualy
sold for coughs. Apparantly she was told that they cured the heat lumps by
'clearing the blood'. I checked a couple of reporteries, and Materia medicas and
could not realy find any reference to using ipecac for similar complaints,
so I tried a muscle test on her, she reacted well to the 12 c, I was suffering
with them too and the same potency tested good for me too. By touching the
itchy spots during the testing the result was more positive, ( suggesting that
the remedy is good for the local complaint as well as helping the patient as
a whole)
We both tried the remedy with almost instant relief. I felt instantly cooler
too. The remedy has needed a few repetitions over the last few days.
More details of the lumps that it seems to cure :-
Small hard raised lumps which itch, scratching them feels good, and the
itching goes for a bout 10 seconds, them returns Much worse,
Better water especialy hot but returns quickly.
And for you mental and emotional types
Restless and slightly iritable when itching sever (well you would be
wouldn't you)
I Feel an urge urge to punch the wall when very severe.

miliary rash and << warmth. It is a violently itchy rx but that
usually accompanies nausea but not always. In the 'old' days, so many
'household' rx had Ipecac in them. Joy
Yes, it is there, but the miliary rash and violently itchy has gone from
some of the the newer MM like Phatak and Murphy's Lotus that I tend to use.
IIRC They just give ' itching with Nausea.'
Just goes to show that
1, It is worth looking at several MM's, even if half of the information is
repeated word for word in many of them (and rightly so of course)
2 'You should never NOT give a remedy because of a symptom that the patient
has NOT got' (nausea in this case)

Robin Murphy said this or something like it in a lecture I heard on tape,
and I think he is right. I always think of this when someone says something
like, 'can't be pulsatilla, she is definitely is not pulsatilla'
Robin Murphy also said that he preferred the newer MM as the old ones have
too many symptoms (this was before he published Lotus so he had no vested
interest then), he said that in the newer ones the less useful and less reliable
symptoms have been left out, leaving only the symptoms that have been
confirmed in clinical practice. Something like that anyway.
Arguable, In this case Something useful seems to have been lost,
Similarly Hints from provers on skin eruptions and Iritability in Crataegus
which I have found relevant did not seem to get into most MM's, old or new.
With big materia medica's and new remedies we are of course in danger of
becoming bogged down with more and more information on more and more remedies so
it is a delicate balance.
Either way, without the hint on the use of 'Fennings little healers', I for
one would never have found ipecac from repertorising, It would come out about
25th I would guesse.
I would not have thought of it from the picture of Ipecac I had in my head.
Call me dumb if you like, but short of reading the three Volumes of Clarke's
Dictionary from the front cover to at least ip I would never have stumbled
on it, and if I did, It would have been cold raining again by then, and the
itch forgotten.
Of course it will not be everyone's remedy for this problem, and it is not
a glamorous fashionable or life threatening disease, but as it has now worked
spectacularly well on 3 out of 3 patients where more obvious and better
indicated remedies have failed I think it is worth thinking about in this current
heatwave. or even pencilling in the repertory
