Jet lag

Post by Gail »

I was quite delighted when working up a case which included a 'never
well since'- overseas travel, to find Lachesis, which came up as the
constitutional, to have an application for jet lag. Clarke says of
it: "A curious symptom in the mental sphere is a derangement of the
time sense. It occurs also in Merc (to which Lach. is an antidote);
but is more prominent in Lach., when a patient is always making
mistakes in the time of day, and confounds the morning hours with the
evening hours, Lach. will generally put this right, if it does no
more." Add to this the problems around sleeping, and that it can give
a very good night's sleep, it could be helpful.

The other remedy that I use is the Australian Bush Flower mix -
'Travelessence'. I also remember reading that Arnica is good for
jetlag - something to do with daisies following the sun.

Hi.

I recommend arnica alternating with cocc. ind. for jet lag, and for that
matter travel sickness in general. Works well in both cases.
for jet lag: one dose of each (together or at an interval) before
travelling, once again during travel and once again on arrival.  Go
for a brisk walk on arrival (if possible) and force yourself as quickly as
possible into the new time schedule.
also: consider gelsemium for those "colds & NBWS" one gets
from heavy travelling -land or air. I've cured several such cases that way.

I've found for several people that Cocculus 6c Aqueous has been enormously
helpful with aftereffects of long trips over several time zones (=sleep
deprivation, generally).

Didi, the suggestion of Gels for the "colds" that come after traveling is a
fascinating thought. I'll try it at the next opportunity.
