Advice Please
When reading about Echinacea, it always seems to be recommended to use
it in the low `x' potencies or the tincture for poisoned wounds and
septicaemia, can anyone advise as to whether this is always the case
with this remedy or whether the higher potencies can be used
effectively.
Many thanks
Kerry

Re: Echinacea Advice
Good question...
In Homeopathic recorder circa 1940 Dr. (Robert?) Hayes mentioned that
he has used Calendula 10M or 50 M even externally on wounds( as we
would use Calendula MT for dressing wounds) and found much better
results that when he used MT. Same could apply for Echinacea.
Some of these uses / potencies have become "standard" because of
previous usage. Many of these medicines were adapted from herbal usage
and so were tried out in lower potencies to start with and probably
the use persisted after that...
The same is also true of using lower potencies of some drugs we
generally use in the higher potencies....
Dr.Koppikar, ex-editor of Homeopathic heritage and a master
prescriber, ( following Dr.Hughes' advice) gave Silica 3x for cancer
pains with excellent results.

Dear Hahnemannian
Thanks for your input, and yes it is logical that the potency use
stemmed from the herbal use. I have used Calendula with great success
in the 10M given internally and applied externally to a very bad wound
on a bird that was difficult to handle and repeat dose (a chunk of flesh
the size of a hand was torn loose); the wound healed brilliantly in 7
days and healed much better than similar wounds that I have had
stitched.
