YAHOO
I'm crossposting this to all the lists I'm on just to be aware.
Christine
"The UK doesn't need puppy farming
it already has too many dogs needing good homes!"
Dogs in days before vets & petfood became the norm
http://anubys.bravejournal.com/entry/15500
Anyway I have been hearing stories that Yahoo is closing Groups down without warning and that it could even be shutting down as well? I have no idea what is actually happening and if it will ever affect us but to play it safe I have saved our member list (to date) and am also creating a "mirror" group at Google that can be used if anything happens to this one. I will update the member list each week or as new members join to make sure this group remains intact whatever Yahooeey does.
We will continue to use this group until such time as "something happens...." and if we do lose this Group we will then transfer over to Google. In the meantime we shall carry on regardless.....lol

Re: YAHOO
Hi Tanya
I saw the email about Yahoo on another group this morning just before I left for work and decided to crosspost to make people aware. I didn't crosspost the person's name nor the group I found it on, (in fact I've forgotten now which group it was - I'm on so many) and someone has asked me how reliable the information is.
I know I've heard rumours myself in the past about Google possibly taking Yahoo over and at one time it was BT that was going to. I guess there's no smoke without fire, so something could be afoot.
Do you know more about what's happening with Yahoo than we do in the UK? I would certainly like to know more, if only to prepare for it if the worse does come to the worse.
Thanks.
Christine

Re: YAHOO
i dont know about the UK specifically, but if Verizon and AT&T and any of
the
other huge telecom corporations get the control they want, I am sure it will
affect not only the UK, but all the world. they will be able to give
priority to
large corporations and selectively service others with fees involved.
thus, the
concept of net neutrality and uncensored communication will come to an end.
the large corporations are already cooperating with big brother in
washington dc
by giving them information on peoples phone calls and most likely their
internet
usage. this government wants to be able to track how people surf the web.
they
are that far along in their snoop and control tactics.
