I think Sepia is still one of the front-runners. If you think that
there is nothing major that contradicts Sepia it might be worth
giving it.

Once again if we start analyzing more and more and go far away from
the core, we might add more confusion ...

Things against Sepia -
No bearing down sensation or urinary incontinence on sneezing etc
I would expect itchiness
She is not off sex
Confidence wanting - sepia is ordinary type only in RU not mentioned elsewhere.

The bit about how much she missed her daughter when she left home and the ballroom dancing helped me to think about Sepia again.

Shannon is away so I can't expect to hear from her for a couple of days. Joy- do you think Sepia is a possibility?

However it doesn't look at all suitable and it is not even mentioned as a Sx in Phataks MM!!

Why do you think Sepia is indicated?

Sepia usually goes upwards (although I bet it is there somewhere in the
downward direction just to confuse things), usually doesn't care for
salt, it is common for a parent to miss a child and why include her
liking for ballroom dancing as part of the case? She came across as
more duty bound and anxious rather than the indifferent and angry Sepia
type. But this has been going on since puberty and the case begins
there, what is going on in her life now hardly seems part of the case,
except maybe as maintaining causes. So there is an inkling for Sepia on
the NBWS puberty and Sepia skin can be raw and cracked - maybe she has
inherited ringworm/herpes taint and at some point enquire about that in
the family.

If you forget the name psoriasis and still use eruption without itching
a lot more other rx should come up as well.

There are loads of Rx for itching without eruption but only these for eruption without itching!!! I checked the Rx last night. I scanned the proving of Turquoise by Alistair Gray and although some of the mentals were correct there was only actually 1 prover who had an eruption without an itch , the others had with an itch!!!

My reasons for Sepia are probably based on people I have given Sepia to successfully and the way i look at the Rx as the woman who has so much to do. There are only 5 Rx who actively enjoy thunderstorms and Sepia is 1 of them. It is strong for psoriasis, sore red bleeding dry tense eruptions. It is strong for sentimental, agg in a crowd, anxiety with family and is well known for woman that go down after a child has left the family home although I do take your point about the fact that this problem started way before this. It's there for talking in her sleep, sleeps deeply and closed spaces agg. The ballroom dancing bit was included because they are better after exercise mentally ad she said she was and that is why she has restarted this activity.I think there is enough to give it a try. It is a sea Rx at least!!

I think I will send her Sepia 30 and see if anything happens!!!

I havent been following this case and may look back at it if I get
time but I felt I must tell you that imo the eruption without itching
will not get you anywhere. Not only is the symptom very very under
reperesented in the texts but it is a very common symptom with
psoriasis so of no use. Psoriasis is not so much my forte as some
other skin things but dont beat yourself up if you dont get very far
with the case. My research suggests that even the best homeopaths have
about a 15-20% success rate with psoriasis of more than 5 years standing.

Interesting!! One of my former patients got relief from Kombucha that he brewed up himself!!

Another left me because the psoriasis had all gone down to her feet so badly that she couldn't walk!!!!!!!!!! That was with Borax as she had the SRP that she couldn't walk over the shiny floor in the supermarket she worked in because she would fall. That symptom went away and I bet she has no psoriasis now!!

Others where the psoriasis have been part of a bigger picture have had improvement so much that it didn't really bother them much now.

A more recent one with psoriatic arthritis phoned to cancel this week as she had seen an allopathic consultant re her arthritis which had flared up (after I gave her a Rx IMO) and he suggested acupuncture and she had an appointment on the same day as mine!!

It would be interesting to see how other homeopaths on the list have fared with psoriasis.

I agree almost 100% with Robin. The only addition I want to make is -
every case is different and so we cannot club all the conditions into
one category. For us diagnosis is only a pointer and should not decide
what our results are going to be in any given case.

Having said that my results with skin diseases including psoriasis are
definitely not very flattering compared to say epilepsy or asthma.

Eruption without itching might be used for confirmatory but one way or
other is not that important.
Long standing skin diseases are especially difficult for many reasons:

1)Patients have already tried all the external creams and ointments
possible before they come to us. The longer they have had this
condition the likelier the use of such items and the harder to get any
result.

2) Patients have already accepted that they are going to live with
this disease at some point. It is almost as if in a corner of their
mind they are resigned to this fact.

3) When it is long standing the condition becomes as if it has a life
of its own and identity. And the patient becomes used to it and life
style and other changes have taken place adjusting to the condition
and treatment has to work against all of this.

4) Invariably I have had aggravation of the skin condition in all
adult patients. In children the aggravation is less ( may be less
allopathic medication, shorter history etc.). I explain that to the
patient and if the patient is sceptical I do not accept the patient.

5) Chronic skin conditions ( or any chronic condition for that matter)
becomes a crutch for the patient and after a while any upset (
physical, psychological etc.) starts reflecting on this organ. This
kind of becomes the default scapegoat of all of the problems the
patient is having.

6) Sometimes the problem expands and becomes a problem of the family
and not just of the patient. It kind of becomes a crutch for the family-

There was this case that I remember of psoriasis. The husband and wife
were almost always at war with each other. And whatever I threw at
the husband would seem to work till the next quarrel with wife. Both
of them have attempted suicide ( more like threatening the other). It
was like the psoriasis was reflecting the conflict in the family.
Only the husband was in treatment. Later I gave Chamomilla for the
wife for her menstrual problems etc. and she became much more
peaceable after that. Wonder of wonders - husband's psoriasis
disappeared. So this was like removing a maintaining cause in a way.

( Her mother is the same way and her father had extensive psoriasis
but very meek - he had given up the fight with wife and expressing
himself thru the skin) and the son-in-law has psoriasis for almost (
from what I saw) the same reason....

And another one where a patient had a small patch in her leg that
never went away for long- and she was at odds with her mother-in-law
and given the culture could not do anything about it- husband will not
hear anything against mother... I could get rid of her resp.allergies
but the skin never really settled ....

Haven't you heard about the difficulty in leopard changing
spots?...make it psoriatic or any chronic skin spots...

What you have written below I agree wholeheartedly with you. I use EFT to get rid of those type of hang ups in my patients and sometimes I don't know which does the work - the homeopathy or the EFT and quite frankly neither my patients or I care!! I did do a little EFT when she was in but will do more on the psoriasis issues. We (in EFT) say that all physical complaints have an emotional cause. If you know nothing about EFT the main site is www.emofree.com What you were talking about is called the "writing on the wall" for the patient. Their stuff has been there so long that they are used to it and in some cases they wouldn't know how to live without it!!!

(BTW Joy - if you are reading this -- it is now hot enough for me now the cold wind from last week has abated!!)
