post 911

Post by Tanya Marquette »

what does anyone know about the aftermath health from Sept 11.
the air was so toxic then and there were many respiratory conditions.
i am interested in the specifics of what kinds of sx occurred. i know the
city still does air quality testing, but the information is not published in the
mainstream.

specifically, i am talking with a woman who got very sick about 4 days
ago with severe respiratory restriction. fevers, chills, weakness--typical
flu type sx. but her breathing was very painful (cutting) and restrictive.

she went to the hospital where they have been going through a list of
40 diseases trying to figure it out. in the meantime most of her sx have
abated except for the lung problem which is still causing difficulty
breathing. the allopathic approach is to keep throwing drugs at her without
knowing what they are doing. she is resisting most of the drugs and is being
encouraged to leave the hospital and go home for safety!

she lives downtown manhattan, not that far from the site of the world trade center.
i am trying to get a handle on what this might be.

On a day to day basis in NYcity there are exposures to multiple chemicals (solvents for example), pollens, airborne contaminants such as asbestos, . . . the list is amazing. It can occur from a building demo and renovation, subway renovations, cleaning out old factories, etc . . . again, the list is endless. Why do you feel the connection of this case to 911?

just a thought i wanted to explore. this woman lives so close to the 911
area.
i agree that nyc air is difficult to live with but she has been there all
her life. i was
thinking that this condition came on suddenly but probably has a longer
incubation
period that may have begun when the wtc went down. are you in nyc? do you
have any experience with people who were affected by the air around the wtc.

I'm in New Jersey, but have lots of commuting clients. Of course, you do
need to 'explore' the possibilities - but in general, I would say there is
more than enough day to day potential exposure to environmental toxins and
irritants, infectious diseases, and stress, to explain sudden onset of
serious respiratory symptoms. It only takes one exposure to mis-use of
solvents, pesticides, etc. to cause someone - even someone who has lived in
NY all her life - to experience such symptoms.

Dear Tanya, needless to say there are numerous accounts with Google on
'air pollution at ground zero' - here's just one you might find useful.
