New here

Post by Cathi Tilley »

Good afternoon,
I am new, both to homeopathy and this group. I have used some homeopathic remedies for my dogs, as well as myself, on a limited basis. For example, when my dog fell off a piece of agility equipment at a trial, the massage therapist there recommended that I give her Arnica Montana. She did not appear to be injured, but she did have a little stiffness in her back. The Arnica did help her get through the remainder of the trial. I now keep it in my k9 first aid kit.
I am interested in treating minor illnesses and injuries homeopathically. For instance, if I start to get the sniffles, I want to know what I can take to nip the cold in the bud. I realize that homeopathy and even holistic medicine is based on the whole picture. I admit that my family and I do not eat as well as we should, but we do take vitamins to try to help. My children know that if they start to sniffle and cough, to grab the ecchinecea.
Right now, I am concerned about my daughter's horseback riding instructor. She has had a dry cough for a couple of weeks. She attributed it to the amount of dust in the riding arena (we live in drought stricken central Florida) and maybe a little hayfever. But it got worse and the doctor prescribed anitbiotics which helped a little, but they made her nauseous and dizzy. She stopped taking them and now her cough has become 'wet', meaning she is bringing phlegm up when she coughs. She is running a low grade fever and is very drained with body aches. She is going to a traditional doctor today, to see if she has pneumonia or not. She says it feels like she has an elephant sitting on her chest and it would be nice if she could take a deep breath without coughing.
Is there anything she can take to get the symptoms under control? Loosen the phlegm and drain her nose, as well as to take care of the body aches and headache?
I realize that any information received on this list is not a diagnosis and is only the opinion of the person providing that information. But if we can get her a little relief from the symptoms......
Also, I have a 60lb dog going through some flea bite allergies. I am treating for the fleas to get rid of them, but what will help with the itching? He has a huge coat (Samoyed) and topical treatments are not an option.
Thanks,
Cathi

Hi -

I am new to this group and new to homeopathy. I have a son 6yr. with
adhd and have taken him to see a homeopath in our area. We have had 2
treatments thus far but I do not think we are seeing great results. We
started with 2 doses of tarantula, and besides seeing a huge
aggravation the first few days that was about it. We waited a month
and then went back for our follow up and about 10 days ago we tried a
2 dose rememdy of hyo. I do think I am noticing he is not as crazy
hyper and perhaps he does not seems as anxious. He is still VERY
impulsivve and struggles with staying focused. He also seems more
tired and whiney then usual. I wanted to know any success stories or
any comments about homeopathy and adhd. I really want this to work. My
son is on stimulants and we are not hapy with having to use meds and
are also not seeing great results.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Betsy

Dear Betsy,
What you have to realise that in a long standing chronic problem like ADHD
you are rarely going to get the 1 pill wonder. It takes time. It sounds as
if your homeopath is making slow improvement so stick with it . Write down
every detail for him/her. There is a wonderful book called "Ritalin free
kids" by Ullman. You will find a lot of information in there. You will find
cases described and how long they took . It is very readable.

All the best

Hi, Betsy.

Hang in there. Your son is showing a positive reaction to the new Hyos.
Keep in touch with your homeopath about what is happening. It will take
several months at least for you to see a significant change, but you will,
and it will be worth the work and attention that it has taken to get there.

Rosemary
