Sycosis and infectious diseases

Regarding the origin of sycosis, Hahnemann saw an obvious disease process of hypo, hyper and dys- function occuring all around him. He ascribed a disease to each miasm because disease was the only logical origin. Syphilis continued to distort and twist, generations after its initial infection, so the logical conclusion was that disfigurement and destruction in all its forms must have syphilis as its starting place, somewhere in the family. But are we truly meant to believe that there were no disfiguring diseases in Europe prior to 1493? Syphilis as a miasm is better understood as an example of a destructive inherited predisposition rather than a consequence of 'impure coition' that took place centuries ago.

Sycosis, psora and syphilis are names that describe the way our body reacts under pressure and what its actions are when sick. The miasms are invaluable and I use them in every single prescription I make, since using them as a base for my prescriptions my success rate has soared, but it took giving up the 'germ theory' of miasms to achieve it. Don't get me wrong, I regard myself as conventionally Hahnemannian, but if you really want to utilise and practice the miasms the way Hahnemann intended, and get the results that prove Hahnemann was right, then there are a few ideas that you have to be prepared to rethink and the idea of a miasm related to infection is one of them.
