This is my 16-y.o. daughter, got sick a few days ago then seemed to be
coming out of it, but this morning woke this with this new complaint
that I don't understand. Here's her picture this morning:
*********
"My heart hurts." Pain in the area of the heart. It's there all the
time, but also sort of throbbing. Like (bap-taps table) and then
slowly fades away. It's not regular, but has a random timing. It's
not connected with the pulse.
[describe pain?] sort of like kicked [??aching, bruised??].
Deep breathing makes it worse. Like my chest is tight or something, so
it feels weird when I take a deep breath. [Deep breathing doesn't make
the throbbing thing worse, just adds the uncomfortable tightness on top
of it.]
(How does the rest of you feel?) Throat still hurts, well doesn't
really hurt, but feels congested [yesterday she described it as feeling
"swollen"?]; when I swallow it feels weird. I'm tired, want to go to
sleep. Nost still stuffed up [no discharge, tho it's "gurgly"
sometimes].
No fever [she basically never gets fevers], says she is chilly, but is
dressed in pants and T shirt in the rather cool house, so must not be
*too* chilly!
***********
Visually nothing too remarkable--looks somewhat pale, eyes just a
little bit puffy (and dark?) underneath, a faint bit of flush on her
cheeks. Skin feels warm despite lack of fever, but maybe just from
being snuggled up in bed... Tongue is mostly clear, just a bit of
whitish coating, maybe not even enough to "count".
She was up for a while, feeling very, very tired, but after our
conversation she went back to bed, has been asleep for the past several
hours.
Can anyone offer thoughts about what the "heart" pain might be?
I used the rubric
CHEST; PAIN; pulsating; heart (15) : aran-ix., arg., camph., clem.,
cod., glon., graph., kali-c., lith-c., lycps., nux-v., rumx., sil.,
spig., tarent.
since that seems to exactly suit her description--but maybe that's not
large enough to hang my prescription on?
Until this came up Puls looked like a reasonable contender. Last night
I gave her a single dose of 30c and she slept well--but this morning
does not look like an improvement...
The chest/heart pain is the puzzler... Thanks for any thoughts!

how are her stools. i recall when my daughter ws abt 16 she
came home with chest and arm pains. it turned out she was
horribly constipated.
i also had someone once with horrific chest pains which turned
out to be stress with muscle spasms.
dont know if these situations might apply

Assuming there is no valvular condition then Pain, region of heart,
deep inspiration suggests Calc phos but I would also use the heart,
throbbing rubric as it difficult to tell whether this is heart or heart
region - might think of Silicea (connection to Puls) which has
throbbing all over as well as heart.
Could also be palpitations. You need to look inside the throat to see
what is going on and also you need some modalities, plus more info on
her reaction to this acute to hep differentiate. Joy
