Affordable Software?

Hi I am new to this group -- and Homeopathy for that matter.

I am looking for some affordable software to use to nail down the right
remedy quickly. Most of what I have seen seems extremely pricey for
beginners. 500-2,500!!.

Does anyone here have any suggestions to get good (maybe not super
proff) software for under $100 that will do the job?

Hi Wolf

As a newbie to homeopathy I certainly wouldn't recommend any software. They take a lot of understanding and getting used to even for those who are professional. The best thing to do is as Sheri has recommended and get yourself some good books.

You could also start by joining http://www.homeoint.org/english/index.htm - they have loads of different MM and repertories and great articles but it costs 20euros a year. Great value for what you get.

And there's also David Little's site http://www.simillimum.com/Thelittlelibrary.html - which will help to keep you in the right direction.

Welcome. I'm sure you will get some excellent advice on books and teachers on this list. In answer to your question about software - there is a good reason you won't find cheap or student level software. The great homeopathic software is not designed to teach, or take a case, decide on, or even sort through the important symptoms and concepts of a case. It is designed to process vast amounts of information based on your analysis of the situation. And it can give you wonderful ways or organize, reorganize, evaluate and reevaluate complex cases in a timely manner. It can be a wonderful professional tool - but it will never 'nail down the right remedy quickly'. Whenever you can, try out the various software with a fellow student or homeopath, but save your money for now and invest in the learning process. The software is only worth while when it contains features and libraries that do wind up being pricey.

I would definitely recommend you to have a look at Mercurius.

It's a great pity that you didn't post this question about a year ago
- they actually had a complete version of their software totally free
of charge.

However, they are still offering a free demo version (no time limits,
fully operational). And their Basic version costs no more than 50
Euros (cca 65 USD).

I am not a software person (not when homoeopathy is concerned, that
is), but I've given it a good try, and I think it offers great value
for the money. I think it'd be definitely worth your while.
