Dream of lost

Post by Shannon Nelson »

Hi all,

This is someone I've been "chasing" remedy for, for some years (some
results, but not the "direct hit" I need!). She sent me this recent
dream, which I would love to hear thoughts about!

*************
Dream: I'm going with [my brother] to a dentist appointment somewhere
across from [a big, fancy office complex she used to work at];
following his car with mine. As we pick our way thru heavy traffic I
remember that I never got around to [finding out] the name of the
dentist and address of the office. Traffic separates us, but I decide
to push on and see if I can figure it out. I figure if I see the
[dentist's] name, I'll recognize it, or maybe will find [my brother].

But on arrival, no such luck. [An old friend was in the car with me,
and] we wind up walking thru the [office complex], getting lost along
the way, looking for the place where *her* appointment is; eventually
we find that, and I depart to try to find my appointment. I tell her
that it's "across the street", and I'll meet her again either in front
of that building or this one, at 11:00 (which is 40 min from the time,
which now looks quite unreasonably optimistic!) As I leave I am
vaguely wondering what she'll do--how she'll get back home--if we're
*not* able to meet up on strength of my vague instructions! I start to
offer her a "what if" plan, someplace we can both phone if we need to
exchange messages--but can't figure one out in time, and wind up
leaving while still puzzling over that possible contency plan. I go
outside, look for "across the street", realize there are two
possibilities (the door I came out of it at a sort of T), and choose
the one that looks more likely, stand looking up at that building,
wondering what to do next. Shortly after that I woke, having no clue
yet about where the appointment might be.

This dream is VERY representative of that whole thing I've had going
for decades!
1) Start out with a purpose or plan or destination in mind, and
quickly become lost again. [Finishing college; cleaning the kitchen;
writing a book... Could be anything, big or small (variable
symptoms!), but huge difficulties with planning and execution in
general.)]
2) The feeling throughout [the dream] is a sort of gentle puzzlement
(despite the predicaments, I don't tend to get particularly upset in
these dreams; though sometimes anxious in a flighty, ungrounded sort of
way). And a REALLY SPACEY feeling, which is very like the feeling I
have so often had in life--as tho everything is uncertain, can't pin
down locations or intentions or (God forbid) anything like a PLAN, so
I just sort of throw myself into the activity, hoping that somehow the
current will lead me where I want to go--but it never does, and I just
wind up "lost" again.
***************

I would love thoughts about remedies, families, types of remedy,
anything of that sort?
Thanks for all thoughts!
Shannon

probably no need to say that 'dreams' don't have to be located within
specific dream rubrics, i.e. the sensations etc can be found in the
mind rubrics and even in physical sx such as pain. But 'lost' seems a
good one to begin with anyway but maybe also 'separation' (from concept
to resolution) + 'irresolution' + more specifically 'dreams of journey
with difficulties' (life being the journey with difficulties).

The spacey sensation is a good one - might suggest a diffusion rx such
as Phos or a drug rx, maybe even a rx such as Chocolate (again) and the
buzz and spacey feelings that rx showed in the provings, lots of
anxiety and fear that things will fall apart = separation and chocolate
having dreams as if lost at home.

Slightly outside of that could be a kind of anxiety that comes when an
appointment is fixed which would lead to 'anticipation, anxiety from an
upcoming engagement'.

I think much would depend on whether the irresolution is a 'chosen'
option or not, i.e. finishing something represents an end that is
uncomfortable or whether it means a fear of failure. also sounds like
one who doesn't like the responsibility of decisions - wants the
current to take her there - so notions about 'floating' come into the
picture, not being 'grounded' - delusions floating.

Matching physicals would help - can you offer any? Best wishes, Joy

Oh, how your patient reminds me of myself! :-)
You've probably already considered these:
"Mind : Undertakes many things, perseveres in nothing"
"Mind, memory, weakness of, places, for"
Best,
Caro.

Yep, and sub-rubrics! :-P
There are some remedies there that I haven't fully plumbed yet...

But does this "MIND, memory, weakness of, places, for" persist in real life,
or only in dreams? Sometimes one just needs to look at what the dream is
trying to tell us.

I remember years ago having these dreams of aching loneliness: I'd be back
in high school and dateless for the senior prom, etc. These weren't
sensations (or experiences) I'd had as a teen, so what did they mean decades
later? The answer was a failing marriage. When I walked out of that, the
dreams of loneliness ceased.

Peace,
Cinnabar
