proving project

Post by Joy Lucas »

Dear All, you might remember I announced a new proving project last
year.

These are not new remedies that are being proved but ones that already
appear in our materia medicas and that have either had no proving at
all or only a very scant proving - if we are to use all the remedies in
our materia medicas efficiently then it is important to prove these rx
and build a reliable materia medica.

Each proving will be conducted simultaneously around the world.

The first proving has been conducted and nearly at a close, and
although it will take some time for the data to become available it has
already shown itself to be very exciting and interesting - as I am sure
most provings are. The data will be freely accessible to all as each
proving is collated.

The list of rx to prove is quite a long one and this project will
always need provers and supervisors. The second proving is due to start
in March, with a third one planned for May and then probably a new one
every 2 months approximately until the project either runs out of
provers or the list of rx provings is complete.

So, I am asking again for volunteers to be provers or supervisors. I
already have quite a lot already participating but this project will
always need more. This is your homeopathy and you would be providing a
great service to enhancing our knowledge of materia medica. Provers are
special people and without them we would have no homeopathy. If you
need convincing, talk to an experienced prover - most of the time it is
a life enhancing experience, or a least a lot of fun :-)

Please email me privately if you need further information or wish to
join the project in some way. In anticipation and best wishes, Joy.

Dear All, as there are now lots of new members I thought I would take
this opportunity to ask for provers for my ongoing proving project - to
bring you up to date....

This project is all about proving 'old' rx, ones that already appear in
our MM's but those that have not had a full proving - some have had no
proving at all and if we are to be efficient in our prescribing all our
rx need to be proved and re-proved. So far there have been 4 provings -
1 = leonurus cardiaca (full data available), 2 = erythrinus (data not
yet available), 3 and 4 are yet to be announced as all data is not yet
in and the 5th is planned for some time in October. These provings are
taking place simultaneously all around the world and to be a continuing
success more provers are urgently needed. So, :-)) if anyone is
interested in being a prover (it is a very valuable experience) then
please let me know, off list

To add to this 'soft' sell, I will gift a bottle of rx to all provers
taking part - any rx of your choice, if I have it in stock you can have
some - how can you refuse :-)

Even if you can't take part in October there will be more provings at
regular dates after this, approximately every 2/3 months. I look
forward to hearing from you (all). With best wishes, Joy

All the proving data will be available to download from the 'homepage'
link below as soon as it is available - so far proving 1 is available
(Leonurus cardica) and Erythrinus will soon be available as well. All
this data is also being sent on to the repertory people as well for
inclusion. Best wishes, Joy

I am now getting prepared for the next remedy to be proved in this project which set out specifically to prove remedies that already appear in our MM but that have had little or no proving. This will be number 6.

Obviously for this we need provers and supervisors.

For provers - they need to have relative health although your case would be taken briefly before you are chosen to assess that you would be suitable. Provers need to keep notes throughout the proving - this can last for a day or two, a week, maybe a couple of weeks, sometimes longer - if a menstruating female sometimes it is necessary to have a cycle come and go. All provers are assigned a supervisor who acts as someone to turn to if necessary for any help and guidance throughout the proving and also to help keep provers on track, making sure their notes are being kept well. It is not an intrusive situation but one that has to be in place. Supervision may take place long distance.

Supervisors, as stated above, are there to help, to take the initial case and guide if requested. As long as you know how to take a case and that you are able to communicate, i.e. can be available relatively easily, then you would be suitable for the task.

Provings are, on the whole, great fun. One never knows what may evolve but they take you to the heart of Hahnemannian homeopathy and you will be contributing towards healing others for centuries to come (hopefully). They are enlightening experiences. Any problems can easily be rectified. Once your proving comes to an end the written data is sent off to be collated and eventually published.

I have no idea what the remedy will be yet. I make a list and give this to a colleague of mine and she will 'blindly' make a choice. The whole proving is done as blindly and as unprejudiced as possible.

If you are interested in being either a prover or supervisor please let me know off list.

If you would like to ask me any questions about this, please also do that off list.

Thanks in advance. I look forward to hearing from you.

Joy
