Right sided eczema in a child
I had a new case in today - a child with eczema only down the right side of her body, intermingled with a few Molluscum. To me the right side only is important but can't find a specific Rx which is right sided and has her modalities on sun when abroad, moist and weepy when scratched when it may go crusty, itchy but I don't get the impression this is excessive. Busy busy child, friendly, happy, sensitive to other's feelings, avers meat, desires dairy, spicy, mum says she eats tiny amounts but weight wise she looks a healthy child. Can be wary of people. Hates loud noises. No fear of heights or dark but of the usual giants and witches. Needs to know what she is doing in advance but no problem if she is not told - I get the impression this is Mum's hang up. Mum is a perfectly drug controlled epileptic as is uncle. Sick all through pregnancy, and mum was scanned every week because of a bleed at 9 weeks. Cord around neck at birth and was giving a bit of oxygen. She didn't breast feed as didn't want epileptic drugs going into child. Eczema started age 1 which may have been with introduction of cows milk but 3 cousins have it. No allopathic creams have been used for about 5 months.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.

I would question the > sun when abroad because if this means when on
holiday then holidays often make people feel >>> regardless of it being
specifically sunny. If it isn't that important (you might say it is)
then I would include Apis as a possible rx. Important to grade the sx
anything else < right side, any other rational reason for it being just
the right side, vaccinations (sulphur can be one sided) - what does the
eczema weep when scratched - colour, thick, thin etc.
the molluscum is interesting, has it always been there or more recent?
does she have any in her mouth (borax)
in what way is she busy - fretfully and inattentive or always finishing
what she does, is it dutiful (needs to know in advance = making plans
like sulphur e.g.)
how old is she
what is it about giants and witches, anything interesting there -
Pulsatilla - calcarea (one sided, dutiful as being busy, fearful etc)

Rochelle I think its sulphur. I have to be brief but the combination
of molluscum - major remedy, worse water, likes spices (in children so
often a symptom of phos, if its salt and spice ,and especially sulph
if spice but not particularly salt!), plus the nature of the child
suggest it. The next best would be thuja becaue of the molluscum -
major remedy - plus eruption covered parts. The right sidedness is
not really helpful I find unless as a confirmatory symptom for a right
sided remedy like Lyc.
good luck

Thanks for that as it was Sulphur 6 - 3 doses that I gave. I can see Thuja
as well. I couldn't really at this stage see Lyco. maybe the Sulphur will
bring something put.

Homeopaths,
Your thoughts on zinc ointment for eczema?
Extremely effective even after one application, especially in
stubborn cases where homeo remedies haven't done much. I think
it's due to getting rid of infection just under the skin that
keeps driving the whole process and even making it worse and
intractable.
But would you consider zinc ointment (sold for about $2 at the
drug store for diaper rash etc) suppressive?

Re: Right sided eczema in a child
Personally I would say that zinc ointment is suppressive. However I always
give patients Calendula lotion which I make up myself with Calendula
tincture and Calendula oil laced with Burdock tincture and Urticaria. The
patients say it is soothing. The bland lotion my husband makes up for me
with no fragrances or colour. And "no" I can't explain why I don't see that
as suppressive but as a healer
. I also have Chrysophanic acid ointment
(brought over from India) which is 5% of 1x solution which works well on
psoriasis.
I have a feeling that I will be roasted for this my some members of the
list!

Dear Carol,
Oh yes!
I use zinc ointment on all my skin cases, it's just so much easier
than all that case taking and repertorising!
;-p

Re: Right sided eczema in a child
But seriously, Simon (if those two aren't self-cancelling
) )
*Would* you use it if patient asks for prompt relief while looking for
remedy or waiting for it to act? Or have you found or felt it to be
suppressive?? Years ago I was told that it was or could be, but I also
am curious what others have thought or found!
