homeoprophylaxis

Post by Charlotte Gilruth »

Dear Charlotte,

How does HP (homeoprophylaxis) fit into homeopathy's protocol of treating sx
when they appear.

tanya
Dear Tanya,
This is a short question with a long answer, which I will be sure is covered
fully in the interview. You can read Isaac Golden's article at
www.wholehealthnow.com, where he covers all facets of the question
thoroughly and convincingly.

For some of the serious diseases, if an epidemic threatens or has already
started, I would much rather prevent than wait for symptoms to appear. In
Clarke's little book "Cholera, Diarrhoea, and Dysentery", he tells of
thousands of people being treated prophylactically with Camphora in a
cholera epidemic, and none of them were known to have come down with
cholera. Clarke says, "The appalling feature about cholera is the
suddenness of its attack and the awful rapidity of its course. If efficient
treatment is not put in force at once, the patient may be beyond help before
the doctor arrives."

Many of the other epidemic diseases, like smallpox, are drastic and
life-threatening too.

When I started really reflecting on the scenario of waiting for people to
get symptoms in an epidemic, and thinking of how the few homeopaths could
possibly spread themselves around to the afflicted, let alone to keep in
close and timely enough contact to be effective in curing them, it began to
seem that prophylaxis in such a situation was the only practical route.
(There are not nearly as many homeopaths now as there were when homeopathy
was used so successfully in the epidemics of the 1800's.)

I loaned Golden's book to someone today, but he quoted Kent as saying, to
paraphrase, that one does not need such an exactly matching remedy for
prevention as for treatment once someone has the disease. (I will pass on
the exact quote later.)

The main thing we need to determine is whether we can know effective
remedies without waiting for many people to contract the disease first.
Isaac Golden's ten-year clinical study giving remedies instead of vaccines
was very convincing to me. He found a success rate at least equal to
regular vaccination.

Best wishes,
Charlotte

Thank you Charlotte for this excellent response.

As far as 'Regular Vaccination' is concerned, we rarely hear official
reports of the damage it does. Suffice that some experts are on record on a
radio programme saying that some children's lives may have to be sacrificed
to obtain herd immunity (We are back to the times of Child Sacrifice again -
so much for human development??).

Also the GIs going to Vietnam were vaccinated against all sort of diseases
yet they went on and caught them. I was told by Human Science teacher at
college that the protection from Vaccination was regarded to be about 40%.
Because 20% have natural immunity and some 40% of the GIs got the disease
any way!

(If you have not seem my October post - Vaccination - Who needs pls do let
me know and I will re post it.)

Rgds

Dear Charlotte,

Thanks for the response. I felt, even as writing it, that the question was a bit too simplistic. My main concern, tho, was concern for the standard battery of vaccines that children get pumped into them almost from birth. I have had many parents wanting an alternative to vaccines. They crave a 'something' in order to feel secure. I am sure you have had this experience, too.

In discussions with other homeopaths, most of them felt that waiting for symptoms was more appropriate. I certainly hear your point in the case of epidemics with the magnitude of cholera--or anthrax, today. This is such a controversial issue.

I will read Golden's article as soon as i can. Look forward to reading your interview.
