Hi,
I just took a sleep apnea case that looks much like Sambucus and the case being described here. I am wondering where Joy got that wonderful cycle of event for Sambucus. Just reading Vermeulen (Prisma or Concordant), I would not develop the cycle. Maybe I am lacking something in my imagination. It is very much like Hercu's cycles and segments. Has anyone read David Warkenton's MM on trees? What do you think of his work?
My case seems to be aggravated by work stress. Mortification because of rudeness leads to congestion of the head. Hunches forward to ameliorate the pain of stress. Headaches in the left occipital. All left-sided symptoms (Kidney ache, short left leg, gout both sides but often left toe) Has gout from kidney produced uric acid. Obese from sake and ramen over-eating. Very mild temper apparently but tends to run away from pressure. Lower body lacks energy. Hemorrhoids. Not enough sperm to have children. Intestines prolapsed into the testes. Seems like there is not enough energy down there and it rises to produce head congestion. I think the blood rises and he has a pain at the base of the neck as well as swollen 4th and 5th vertebrate surgery.
The head congestion, hemorrhoids and backaches make me think of portal congestion. But I don't know much about this physiological stuff. So maybe clearing the case with Sulphur 200c and/or draining the kidney with Berb 6c (only potency I have. Wish I could find a good source of x potencies), might help prevent big aggravations.
Treats his wife like a child and feels somewhat childlike in his self presentation --- naive and trusting. But also has a suppressed fighting angry aspect to him (as a child). As a child spent a lot of energy escaping his grandmother's hovering supervision. Was an only child raised by grandmother. Both parents worked. So, the current Japanese job pressure requires much more hurrying than he can absorb. Very concerned with health.
I will ask about the perspiring after waking from suffocation and problems with edema. Kidney problems and edema go together often.
Grindellia is part of the composita family. So I would expect more injury. These obese people are not getting much exercise. They have the Kali-nit obsessive concern with health. Also, my px has the desire to be part of the group -- identifying with society as Kali would. Grindella gets the apnea on falling asleep. My px wakes many times during the night. He did not even mention the apnea until the end of the interview since he is sleeping with a machine. It must not be very frightened because he travels often without the machine for breathing at night. Probably he apnea has not progressed much because both remedies are frightened by the possibility of suffocation. Grindella has more to do with the spleen and heart. More diabetic than kidney problems (Vermeulen).

Dear Ellen, it isn't really the job of the materia medicas to
'organise' data in any other way than functional as most of them
already do so. All I do is read them and offer a likely cycle of events
from causation to effect to final stages. It helps me understand the rx
fully. For example the excessive perspiration present in Sambucus comes
from the congestion that causes oedema. That 'liquid' build up has to
come from somewhere - even the head feels as if it is filled with
water. I don't have Vermeulen so I can't make any cross references.
I took notice of your mention of a strange sx of your client - prolapse
of the intestines and this made me think about Opuntia vulgaris - not a
lot known about this rx although I am sure someone on this list could
provide. Another link is that many of the cacti rx have a history of
being oppressed, often by someone in their lives (made to stay the
child?) = chest oppression, congestion, stagnation, = heart rx etc
I am sure many other rx have this kind of prolapse so just an offering.

I am not sure that the intestines prolapsed. Whatever it is, it goes into the testicles. The male px was very embarrassed telling me so I did not press him. I should have. He had surgery to have it fixed. But the point is the lower body and particularly is short on energy.
