heartburn
I have got a patient with a persistent complaint of heartburn - worse evenings but he is now getting it during the day which is worse for having a cup of tea and cold milk amel. Now I reckon both of these are quite common symptoms with heartburn but I can't seem to rep it except in a general way like milk amel. It is in the Rx he has been doing well on mentally and emotionally so it is possible that this is the cause of this getting worse. Has anyone seen a pertinent rubric/s for these specific modalities?

It would only be getting worse if he has suppressed it in the past, which
is possible.
Also what is he eating? Bread, chocolate and other foods are often culprits.

Re: heartburn
He is drinking too much alcohol for a 17 yr old!!
He has had this heartburn for a few years and can sometimes get it after
running. The only thing he uses to suppress it is cold milk that I know off.
He has, since he has been seeing me come off sniffing cocaine and smoking
weed daily so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
A SRP he has had since childhood is he has a sticky mucus in his mouth which
although is there all the time is < on waking and sticks to his large red
coloured lips. The Rx I gave him, Bar Carb, did initially get rid of this
for about 2 weeks but subsequent prescriptions of the Rx and going up in
potency has not made it go away again although it is better. Registered

Re: heartburn
Either suppressed or simply that things moved on...
It's not uncommon to see physical symptoms disappear as they are
replaced by deeper ones ("He just grew out of it," etc.). Since the
nature of chronic disease is to progress, it winds up that good ol'
time can cause (in a sense) "suppression" on its own!
But also Rochelle, looking at your next post about this, if it's just a
recent worsening of something he's had off--and-on for some time, are
you sure it's a pronounced and lasting enough effect that it needs to
be addressed now? Sounds like it could be just a "fluctuation", or
related to (as Sheri said) diet or something? Or maybe as you said,
the physical is worsening as the M/E is improving--in which case it
shouldn't last for too long?

Re: heartburn
Nux V. What you're describing is energetically similar to the
esophagus stuff from a few days ago and its relation to stuck
liver Qi. Also alcohol irritates the
esophagus, can cause reflux, can predispose to dysplasia and
even cancer of the esophagus. I've seen elderly get esophagus
bleeding and esophagus cancer after years of drinking,
but this guy is just starting his life!
The alcohol is definitely an obstacle to cure, but drinking
too much is a sx of something deeper. ... Drs usually tell
people with reflux to not eat after 6-7 pm.

Re: heartburn
I started him off a few months ago with a month of Nux6/Sulphur6 to detox
before I would give him a constitutional. I also wanted to see if he was
wasting my time and his Mum's money coming to me if he wasn't going to put
any effort in re the drug taking. His mum sent him to me because of lack of
energy and mood swings. Little does she know!!!!

Re: heartburn
Dear Rochelle,
Indeed it difficult to a particular modality as the case of heartburn. Here if we apply Bonneinghausian's logic what is true to a part [particular modality ] is also true to whole man [General modality]. It is exactly opposite to Kentian thoughts. For practial point of view we've to be 'eclectic'. What fits where, fit it there. There should be no rigidity in practice. As Tyler said if you want to learn lean from from many. So in the said case of heartburn we can use amel from cold milk from chapter geeralities. It is not a common symptom for a heart burn to get amel by cold milk as the patient is not better by cold water.

Re: heartburn
Thanks for that.
Boenninghausen, Generalities; FOOD MILK, AMELIORATION:, apis[1], ars[1],
chel[2], graph[1], iod[1], mez[1], rhus-t[1], ruta[2], verat[1]
Boenninghausen, Stomach; AMELIORATION: MILK AFTER:, ars[1], graph[1],
ruta[2], verat[2]
Boenninghausen, Stool; AGGRAVATION AND AMELIORATION: MILK. COLD,
AMELIORATION:, iod[1]
These are the best I can find unless you know different. The amel cold
milk - re iod refers to constipation which this boy doesn't have. I also did
question him re iod when he was with me but he is often not hungry and can
go without food as he can forget to have a meal.

Rochelle,
Have you considered giving him a dose of Alcoholus 30c? It can really help
with the type of heartburn you describe, especially given the probable
cause.
Peace,
Cinnabar
