Links request for studies

Hi all,

I have had a student request for information and studies either
proving or disproving whether homeopathy or OTHER complimentary
therapies are effective in treating psychological conditions.

Anyone have any good references/links I can forward to them?

Hi Simon,
"Studies" I can't help with, but "information" is very, very easy to
come by--have them thumb thru a few homeopathy journals! Or talk to
parents of kids with "behavior issues" who've been helped (I'll
volunteer for that!).

Or are they looking with reference to some specific diagnosis? Maybe
I'm interpreting the question too generally...
They might also like to look at the EFT website (www.emofree.com);
might or might not be relevant, depending on just what they mean by
"psychological conditions"...

Dear Simon,

We know from experience, of course, that homeopathy is very effective in treating psychological conditions -- not quickly or instantaneously, but with good professional follow-up. So published case studies would be one good source of information for your student.

One of the most knowledgeable people around on the subject of controlled studies of homeopathic medicines for conditions across the board is Dana Ullman, at www.homeopathic.com He has published an excellent e-book that presents the results of such studies for a wide variety of conditions. The e-book is mainly written for the layperson -- an excellent resource. Your student would probably need to contact Dana to get his suggestions on published sources of such information for serious psychiatric disease.

Another good resource on the subject is Andre Saine's two volume set on treating mental illnesses. Also Paul Herscu's book "Stramonium." Looking under the appropriate remedies, your student would find applicable cases in Sankaran's books as well. And a search in EH or Reference Works for some applicable key words will bring up case reports from authors throughout the history of homeopathy. Of course the older authors don't use the modern diagnostic terms, but a search through the "delusions" rubrics would be a good start to find remedies applying to psychological states, that then could be the basis for a computer search. The fear and anxiety rubrics provide more remedy information that can then be followed up in data base searches.

I don't have time to go through referenceworks for them and as it's
not a large study they don't have time either - it's just to know
whether there's enough stuff out there to put together a decent
essay on the subject

Then Edward Whitmont would be a must read - available with Dana Ullman.
I've heard that Bailey has some good psychological remedy
descriptions. I"m not sure how helpful they are homeoapthically, but
to a psychology student it may be a good academic study.
