Silicea

If one fits into Silicea constitution completely, can he/she be given
that remedy if it is known that they have been fitted with a metal rod
after surgery or if they have been fitted with a metallic crown in a
tooth or if they have a mesh after a hernia operation etc etc. Silicea
with its property to expel foreign substances from the body, will it
cause harm?? If so how to deal with such a situation? With most of the
population having a crown or other dental fillings these days, how
does a homeopath decide wheter to administer Silicea or not & if so in
what potency??

This question comes up periodically. Over the years I have heard many
people worry over it, but have never heard any *experiences* which (so
far as I can see) support the need to worry about it. Some odds and
ends:

Sheilagh Creasy, a very well established homeopath who had (at the time
I heard her speak) some 30 years of very full-time experience, stated
that "if Silicea is indicated, I will give silicea." She has *never*
seen trouble from it, tho on occasion unexpected things have been
expelled--shrapnel, glass, bullets, finding their way safely to the
surface. Pacemakers, pinned joints, fillings, etc., all stayed safely
in their places.

Here on the list I have heard (two?) experiences with a filling coming
out after taking silica. But in each of those the tooth had been in
trouble previously, and apparently that filling *needed* to come out
anyway (abscess etc. beneath it).

As always I look forward to hearing if others have experience to the
contrary, but it appears to me that, as Sheilagh put it, "If silica is
indicated, ... give silica." Best wishes,

I have given Silica to someone who has a titanium rod, and at least 4 other pieces screwed into
various bones on his body and wires holding the patella together as well --- the infection he had
cleared beautifully, without losing any of the metal, or causing any known problem, and his fillings
stayed put.

He did have a metal something in his foot that looked like something that he may have stood on at
some time which broke off in his foot, which he wasn't aware of until he had the accident which led
to all the other metal being inserted, and unfortunately, this did not come out either. All that was
addressed, that I am aware of was the acute inflammation that i treated him for.

I agree with Robyn. I've given Silica when it was clearly indicated to several clients that had various titanium prosthetic parts, and there's never been any problems with these parts being disturbed -- no dental fillings have fallen out either as a result of the Silica. So I would say that what I've heard is probably accurate, that if the "foreign pieces" were actually helping the body and supporting the vital force, they don;t get disturbed by the remedy Sil when it's given as well-indicated.

Dittos! I have given it numerous times with dental work of all kinds and
to one patient
with titanium screws and hardwear in his knee and another with similar
hardwear in her ankle.

Thank you, everyone, for the Silicea info. Alas, that does not seem like her
either. Definitely not "fragile," not shy, and no skin problems.

Also, the "aura," as such, is definitely starting in her legs. The
neurologist even asked about that, trying to determine if the aura was in
her stomach region--she insisted that it was not.

Okay...one last try: Lach.? She really can't stand having anything around
her throat. This was a huge issue when they did the EEG, because the cap has
to be held on with a strap under the chin, and she couldn't leave it alone,
it bothered her so much. Or are there any other remedies that have that same
feature? I can't seem to find a rubric for that in Kent. :~/

Did you already fill us in on how causticum seems not to fit her? That
could help give clues about where else to look.
