patient treated with Zoladex - prostate cancer

Post by VR VR »

I have an elderly patient who complains of swollen legs, weakness in the legs especially on the right side, which came on suddenly about 3 years ago. On investigation I found that he had been given Zoladex for elevated PSA levels a short time before the appearance of the symptoms (he had had prostate cancer in 1993, and had the prostate removed). These symptoms are all listed as side effects of the drug. He still takes the drug and the symptoms have worsened. Because of the Zoladex, he's also taking Fosalan and Calctrate as the drug by inhibiting hormone production causes male menopause and susceptibility to osteoporosis. He has hot flashes too.
I'm not quite sure how to treat here. I found info on a conventional alternative to Zoladex, using Estradiol patches, which don't seem to have the same side effects and may be acceptable to his physician. Taking him off conventional medicine is not on the cards at this stage.
Can I use homeopathy to alleviate side effects of conventional medication? Should I ignore the conventional meds picture and diagnosis and just treat for the symptoms as presented - even if they are side effects? He is generally in very good shape - for any age! - but the weakness in his legs I think makes him feel limited.
The whole thing is confusing. Any ideas?
Vera

I think that under the circumstances you will have to send him but to his
doctor to complain about the side effects and demand to be put onto another
drug.

BTW I have used homeopathy - Dr AUR's protocol with my husband and it has
brought his elevated PSA levels down to nearly normal. Te fact that they
have gone down has impressed us and his consultant said that all the
previous tests must have been wrong!!!!

Vera-
Prescribe on the presenting symptoms after explaining to the patient
what is being done. Sometimes our remedies show some improvement even
if there are maintaining causes- but sometimes do not- it is never
certain- I have had results even if I had prescribed for symptoms
that are being caused by other drugs. Only thing is most of the time
you end up giving the homeo medicine also as a daily dose for a long
period of time...and sometimes might have a proving in hand...

Thanks Rochelle. He's also being treated by a plethora of doctors, so I want to check if the one who prescribed the drug knows he's experiencing the side effects.
In my net surfing I found an interesting article about the PSA (prostate specific antigen, used as a prostate cancer marker - for those who knew as much as I did before I looked it up), which showed that it might be part of the cure as well as a marker for the problem, and that it's also been found to be fighting the cancer, not just marking its existence. For anyone interested, the link is:

What I used is precisely what is on page 176 of his book using Thuja 200
split dose ( 4 doses 8am12noon.4pm.8pm) in water every fortnight the first
month and Carc 200 as before the second month. This is repeated for a year or
more until it has reduced. I have actually gone up to 1M wth just the Thuja
(With Dr AUR's blessing- I did his cancer and his post grad course) as
there has been no improvement in the couple of non bothersome Sx the
prostate enlargement has caused. Within 2 months the PSA decreased a bit
and it now down to the level it was (2.8) when it was first being monitored
.It increased at one point to 4.8 when he had a biopsy which showed a couple
of possible suspect samples out of the 8 they took. Hopefully he will
remember to have another test next month. He has had no other treatment.

Thank you. It seems important to have ongoing care for considerable
time, Jean

Dear Vera ,
One can not understand in this type case -What are Pt's symptoms and What are drug symptoms
U can use Tautopathy to alleviate side effects of conventional medication.
U can ignore the conventional meds picture and diagnosis and just treat for the symptoms as presented - even if they are side effects.
Generally I start treating taking into all individual's symptoms including drug symptoms.
Intercurrently I get the allopathic medicinne(Zoladex )and get potentised to 6 or 30 and use at gap of 3-4 days once which antidotes trhe drug symptoms of Zoladex( Tautopathy).
Pt certainly responds. In many cases of Insulin dependent Diabetics along with indicated medicine Insulin in potency like 6,30 do lot good .
I hope this helps.
