alzheimer's

Post by Tanya Marquette »

has anybody any experience dealing with alzheimer's?

i am trying to assist a family dealing with a woman in her '70's who
is becoming increasingly more forgetful. she is in a rehab center
momentarily and appears to have become very disoriented by the
experience to the point of delusion.

i am looking for anything holisitc--not just homeopathy.

Yes I tried to deal with my mother in law's Alzheimer's. She has had in about 7 years and is now in a home. I found it very difficult because with this condition they are not aware that there is anything wrong with them and certainly wouldn't admit it. It is also difficult to get them to take medication. I never managed to halt the progression but believe that Gingko herbal is as good as Aricept- the allopathic medication. I did have success when she started to accuse my husband of stealing money from her. Crot H sorted that out immediately and I gave it once again when it persisted another time. If you look in Vermeulen 2 there are a lot of rubrics pertaining to the Symptoms of Alzheimer's.

All the best

Hi Tanya,
From a non-homeopathy, "obstacles to cure" standpoint, have them check
how much water she is drinking... It may sound silly, but I have read
so often that this can be a *huge* problem with older people, and
sometimes simply getting / keeping them hydrated can make the confusion
simply disappear. Sometimes older people become less in touch with
things such as thirst (I don't know why! But that's what I've read),
and sometimes there are obstacles, such as it's just one more thing to
bother with, and they're slower... My mom now keeps a measured jar of
water at each of *three* convenient places, so she (and we) can see how
much she is actually getting down, and she was initially amazed at how
little it had been!

Exercise is another BIG factor for keeping mental functioning sharp
(and improving it) in older people.
