apis as prophylaxis in allergy to bee stings

Post by VR VR »

Someone recently asked me about this - daily use of low doses of apis to desensitize allergy (anaphylactic shock) to bee stings. There have been discussions on the list before about prophylaxis - does anyone have an opinion on this one? The patient in question doesn't seem to have any symptoms of apis, and Sulphur has been effective in the case. Sorry, can't post more details.
It seems to go back to the problem of whether to give a remedy where there are no symptoms indicating that remedy. On the other hand - does the susceptibility to bee stings in itself constitute a symptom that validates giving regular doses of apis?

If the anaphylactic shock sx of the person do not match those of the
anaphylactic shock type sx of apis then apis is never going to work
whether you give it prophylactically or with sx - it would be giving a
remedy purely on some kind of theory and a strange theory at that.

There are many rx that have deep allergic states and there will be one
that fits the picture you require - what about carbolic acid for
example or histamine, urtica, rhus tox etc. Sometimes with allergic
states you have an intense acute that can be helped but the chronic
underlying state needs to be addressed. Sometimes it turns out to be
the same rx. Joy
